Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I am buying what they are selling. There's no reason for him to be wearing a mask in that situation. I'm sure he's been tested a ton and knows he isn't sick. Wearing a mask isn't to prevent you from getting sick it's to prevent you from infecting others if you are asymptomatic. Plus he's with people he knows and there's literally Noone else in the stands. This is a non issue and proves absolutely nothing.
I agree with you. Masks should be specially worn when you are in close contact with someone. However it is hard for me to reconcile this picture with Fauci now suggesting we wear Googles and face shields.

When did he call it a hoax at a pep rally?
You have been watching too much CNN and MSNBC. They are the puppeteer and you are the puppet. They are pulling your strings to mold your thought processes 100%. Wake up. Trump is not perfect but the attacks on Trump in an election year are the perfect examples of politics.
The Far Left has been out to get Trump from the beginning, even calling for his impeachment before he took the oath.
You talk about childish behavior, here are a few examples.
1) Pelosi tearing up Trumps speech at the SOTU address.
2) Pelosi encouraging Californians and others to socialize normally in late January/Early Feb. stating COVID was not a problem. Now she is blaming Trump for not acting quick enough.
3) The media going after Trump blaming China for the virus. They stated it was racial. LOL. It was true.
4) The recent hearings with Barr. You want to talk about childish. The Far Left/Democratic Party are hypocritical and completely embarrassingly to this country. A thousand times worse than anything Trump has portrayed.
4) Biden, Pelosi and others condemning Trump for the China travel ban when it was the best option he had at the time to try and stop the virus entering our country.
I won’t even deny most of what you wrote. Politics are dirty and childish. But denying he called it a democratic hoax at a rally? Are you serious? You seem informed so no way you are unaware of this! We’ve had intelligent dialogue recently but I always draw the line when people start denying factual events as if they didn’t happen.

Once you view this incident which is undeniable - still not sure how you are unaware unless you get your news from one source like you are incorrectly accusing me of doing - then maybe you can understand where I’m at. That single event (overlooking everything else) shows me he played to his base and politicized it. I know everyone politicized events. But he is the president and is supposed to lead. It was a gross manipulation of the situation and people are dying because of it.

By the way, didn’t you agree he shouldn’t have called it a hoax in an earlier comment?

I’d like to say that was shocking, but it’s just not . Sheeple will do pretty much anything no matter how ridiculous as long as they think it’s government issued and they are scared .
Those type of people are the worst. Mind your own business. Grown people tattlin.

That’s real simple. People don’t follow guidelines outside of the mandate applying to businesses.
That's actually not what I hear, at all. Many areas of the country (Cali, the NE, larger cities) are quite adherent to mask usage, to the point where it is taboo to be out without one. In many places, is actually punishable by law.

Despite this, cases are climbing... Almost as if cloth masks don't stop the spread of respiratory viruses, after all.

Also, I keep seeing people blaming all the "young people out partying." I am certainly not seeing this as a primary driver. In fact, multiple studies have found that most transmission is occurring in households, amongst close personal contacts, and in long term care facilities. I wonder if this narrative is just pushed by those frustrated about feeling like they have to stay home, are suffering from the effects on business, or hate wearing masks.

It’s right there in print and video. The highlight in two interviews was that the United States was not going to be a significantly affected by the virus. No way you can spin this to fit your narrative. These are the medical professionals who are advising the president.

That’s not what he said at all. “Nothing to worry about right now but things can change” is nowhere near the same as “the U.S. won’t be affected by this”

So you admit it was not a total ban then? And practically how did those quarantines go? By the time the “ban” was in place the virus was already widespread. Again, wow, congrats on that amazing response.... lol. Hmmm do we think there is incompetence of a top ten nationally academic hospital and best hospital in the mid south? Or could it be complete incompetence from a reality tv star? I never said Trump has to be blamed for everything but he has made the situation worse, and when is he ever going to accept one shred of responsibility? I’ll wait for you to find a good quote for that one.

I like how he went straight to “probably your hospital sucks” as if the government has been doing a great job here

(But of course, any government failures are probably just “Democrat governors’ fault” anyway)

Nothing has been a thousand times worse than Trump. I'm thinking you've been pretty less than attentive to our President's behavior to make such a wildly wrong statement, but I do agree about Pelosi and some of the Democrats. There are a few good ones on both sides of the aisle. Just a few though

Tn is at 156 deaths per million. Va is at 260.

Which has been more closed down?

Looking at a state without looking at the counties/regions is like looking at the nation without looking at the states.

Population densities, volume of travel to and from CV19 hot zones etc.. provide vastly more useful data than looking at a state, as a whole.

He was commenting on states so I stayed consistent with his comment.

Why they tolerate players dying from other reasons. Like the flu, drunk driving, heat exhaustion, diabetes, heart disease, all those lead covid deaths by a mile. They are 6 x more likely to die of the flu and 10 x more likely to die in trauma than covid

I specifically remember Grant Williams playing with the flu his junior year. Slamming into and sweating all over the other players.

Sweden and some other Europeans countries are regretting the herd immunity strategy. It may work if you completely disregard the death toll. Check Fortune.com for the report. I’m not taking a position , just paraphrasing from the article.

I just read herd immunity levels need to be 70 to 90% and that is with an effective vaccine.

To completely leave Corona in the rear view I would say that 70 to 90 percent is probably accurate. I have read that between 30 and 50 percent of all people already have some immunity to this due to being exposed to a similar virus in the past. I guess that would explain why some people within the same household consistently test negative although one of their family members is ill with the virus.

I work with a guy who just returned to work after having Corona virus. He had the classic symptoms. 102 degree fever, chest pain, cough, and weakness. His friend caught it at the same time and all he had was a loss of taste for a while. Dudes wife never tested positive, so she definitely had immunity of some kind.

New projections by Youyang Gu, whose machine learning models have been pretty accurate throughout. This suggests the US is past its second peak and numbers are on their way down, though we're still looking at an average of 1,100 daily deaths for the next couple of weeks. By November, he projects 230,000 total dead.
