Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Testing sites were closed down starting Thursday night, right? I just remembered that. I expect we will see that begin affecting number of tests reported as early as today....which would explain why they only reported 4k new cases (I haven't seen the new tests number, but I bet its down).

I haven't seen hospitalization data yet, but will pull it this afternoon.
This is correct. Desantis shut down sites from Friday until tomorrow.

Would they even have the results from Thu/Fri to report today?

Why do these pro mask idiots get so mad when someone else isn't wearing one?

Because our society is filled with people who have a neurotic and unhealthy obsession with controlling other people’s behavior and yes, even thoughts.

Do I think masks ought to be worn when in public? Yes, but I’m mentally stable enough to resist throwing coffee on someone because they won’t do what I say.

While new tests were not coming in from testing sites, I expect that analysis continued for previously submitted samples. With the backlog being worked through, I think we'll see tests reported each day, but they'll be lower than we're used to seeing since there weren't many new tests given Friday/Saturday. By end of the week I'd say it'll look normal again, depending on the lag between tests/results in Florida.

I was thinking that the numbers we see today were from testing done Mon-Wed of last week so if they are lower it has nothing to do with the storm.

My guess is there is a distribution of days between tests and results. I don't know what Florida is averaging, but let's say it is 6 days. So, results start coming in let's say 3 days after testing and finish 10 days after.

It'll be obvious once we see total negatives for today and the next several days vs. what we were seeing last week.

Extreme apathy towards all candidates. Extreme hatred towards the parties. And growing dislike of people fighting for the status quo of two parties.
I understand. As I posted somewhere on this forum, I believe with a long enough timeline the Dems and Reps yield the same ultimate doom. I just think we get there faster with the Dems and I’m not interested in getting there faster so I’ll vote for the Republican Presidential candidate in the upcoming election.

I think we're screwed until the virus is done.

Trump is probably right about that. One day, it'll just have run its course.

Life will return to normal.

That simple.

Then that would mean we need to let it run it’s course. Those who need to shelter in place do. Otherwise get to it. Otherwise we are just dragging this out longer then necessary.

Yeah. Probably. As long as it doesn't bubble up too quickly and overtax our hospitals when the old weezers go off to die.

One thing that the shutdown may have helped...our hospital beds were never overwhelmed so anyone who needed hospitalization received it but as far as dragging it out longer I think we would have been in a better place if we hadn't shutdown

I do believe that there would be a completely different narrative had Trump never mentioned it.

I also think there is an ongoing effort to discourage it's use since it is a generic now and there is no money in it for the pharmaceutical companies. Whether it works or not I have no idea but I've never seen a drug politicized like this.

I think it’s all stupid. You aren’t going to have far more doctors world wide say it’s a non starter just to screw trump. Doesn’t pass the logic test.

I feel like this was my position back in lat May / early June but it wasn't yours at that time. What changed for you?

Of course they're not but I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut if you look into the drs you reference you will probably find some that are political but the majority has a hand in a pharma pocket book.

You, sir, have been gone to long. Always respect your opinion.

The more we read, the more we know, right?
