Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Money and jobs come and go.

Death is permanent.
And wouldn't you rather love your life and be happy when you go, rather than hiding in your house hoping you don't.
2nd no money and no jobs leads people down reckless roads. When people can't afford their bills, their medical supplies, food, or whatever else they need they do dumb stuff. Parents will go down dark roads they may not come back from. Kids will follow. We are going to find out the fall out from this over extended lockdown was worse than if we stayed open.

In a letter to the community, Superintendent Brian Otott said the photo was taken out of context, writing: "Class changes at the high school level are a challenge when maintaining a specific schedule. It is an area we are continuing to work on in this new environment to find practicable ways to further limit students from congregating. Students are in this hallway environment for just a brief period as they move to their next class. ... There is no question that the photo does not look good. ... Wearing a mask is a personal choice, and there is no practical way to enforce a mandate to wear them."

No practical way to enforce mask wearing, huh?

What do you mean "How so"? I hear people on here all the time screeching about their rights and liberties. I see idiots in public without masks. I've seen people complain about Nursing home deaths in NY then go on to say the Economy is more important than protecting our vulnerable populations. And in a few week I will hear about how the Democrats killed the football season.

You still in OBX? Been fishing lately?

Yep. Had an invite to go marlin fishing yesterday, but had 2 zoom calls for work.

Offshore has been super slow - tuna are gone and even mahi are scarce this year. White marlin should be picking up soon, but it's been pretty crappy.

Inshore also has sucked. Water temps too high in the sound, and on the ocean side there's just spot and mullet and assorted fish I don't try to catch.

They can't make you get your shots before attending either. Oh, wait.

I don't get how you guts tout non mask wearers as "trumpers crying about their rights". I live in a very diverse county witg whites, blacks, Latinos, and Asians. I see everyday blacks and Latinos without masks, even know some personally who won't wear a mask, and I assure you they're not trumpers.

How about pants? Can you enforce pants wearing? Isn't wearing pants a personal choice?

I'd wager there's nothing in school or county code in Georgia that mandates pants-wearing (as long as underwear prevents exposure).

The announcement over the PA that "there will be consequences if you tell" makes you wonder about his decision making ability.

You are truly incapable of an actual conversation.

Sounds like you know some stupid people.

I work with one guy, die hard liberal who hates trump, and he's a friend. He makes post every day on Facebook about "trumpers and antimaskers", even on the local news page. Weird thing is, I haven't seen him wear a mask once, at work, or out of work. It's like he makes it political, and only trumpers don't wear mask and are killing everyone, yet he doesn't. Just weird to me how some do that.

Yesterday it was reported that Ohio Governor tested positive for C19. Today he tested negative. As I learned more about it, this doesn't surprise me. In reality he never had C19. His positive test was a bogus test. A Cin Reds baseball player was out for nearly a week because he tested positive on that "rapid test".

DeWine then returned to Columbus and took a second COVID-19 test from Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center. That polymerase chain reaction or PCR test came back negative late Thursday night.

The first test was an antigen test. The second test was a PCR test, which looks at specific genetic material for the virus. It's known to be more sensitive and accurate

Roundup: Tax-free weekend in Ohio, DeWine coronavirus test, Kentucky bars

So here's my question: why are we giving our governors an inaccurate test? What good is our testing system if a governor who's about to meet the President is given a worthless test? What sense does that make and what does that say about the quality of our tests? I think it raises all kinds of questions.

Gov DeWine spent pretty much all of yesterday answering questions over his being C19 positive since he could not see the President as he visited Ohio. In fact DeWine took the time to answer callers' question on C-Span. Throughout it all he answered in the context that he definitely had C19. OK, that was a mistake. He should have clarified that the test he took has a record of false positives and he won't know until later if he truly is positive.

Uh, you are conflating some arguments here.

The argument is protect the at risk, and let the rest go back to normal so the economy can move on.

If you believe it's reasonable to lock down/quarantine/social distance on the general public why isnt it possible for the at risk?

Look at hospitals and ICUs or any real quarantine measures. You separate the sick/at risk so the rest can go on about their days without negatively impacting the sick/at risk.

You dont lock down the healthy or limit them beyond contact with the sick/at risk. Why wouldnt we apply that logic from the healthcare community to the nation at large?
