He is leveraging the covid payments in legislation to eliminate protection for freedom of speech on the internet. Sure, his supporters tell lies on the internet. He is willing to put them at risk to enable his filing law suits against companies which allow forums for his critics. The real object is to make the host companies liable and therefore more censorial. Don't kid yourself. This is just one of the first steps to repress free speech, which would make follow-up repressions easier.

The world wouldn’t/couldn’t shun China. They own way too many western politicians. The various western leaders would hide that information from their populations so they don’t stop buying Chinese trinkets.
