Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I can't even look into steerage without looking down my nose and sneering in disgust.

I kid.

You're right though, it is better.

Back in the day - before they got better at sniffing it out - I’d be booking double connection flights at the end of the year to bank segments...just to maintain that status.

Well there is this little law that protects your health information abbreviated as HIPAA.

Your Rights Under HIPAA

Read this and tell me where it says a business that I patronize has any right to see my health records?

It's time we settle this:

Actually a business can ask you about your vax status and if you do not answer, they can't deny you entry but they can require you to throw on a mask. But it's not a HIPAA violation to ask:

Can a Business Ask for Proof of Vaccination?
Subject to state laws, businesses can ask for customers to demonstrate proof of vaccination, but – due to laws such as ADA – cannot flatly refuse to provide a service to the customer if they cannot prove their vaccination status. Instead, if a customer has not been vaccinated or refuses to disclose their vaccination status, businesses can require the customer to wear a mask or can organize an outside delivery of their purchase. If the customer refuses to agree to the compromise, businesses can then refuse to provide a service on health and safety grounds.

Is it a HIPAA Violation to Ask for Proof of Vaccine Status?

So what you're saying is that no, they can't ask you to prove you were vaccinated and they can ask you to wear a mask. The patron can also give them the middle digit and go to another establishment and spend their money. Proof of vaccination isn't going to work well in a red state.

Yep, that pretty well covers it

Let me give you a little insight into my experience. I run a dental office and I have a few militant patients that get pissed off when we ask about vax status. OK, we are a health care facility. We have every right to ask for a thorough health history. We also ask if they're HIV positive among a page full of other things. Don't be one of those patients, please. Don't give us a hard time

A dentist office is a little different than a burger joint. My dentist went from requiring temp checks in the parking lot and masks to come in to the waiting room, to wear a mask to come on in, to no mask required.

Where is the law that says you have free access to a business or its services?

All they currently say is you cant discriminate based on race, creed, or sex.

The shirt thing is a discrimination that's allowed.

I think that is a different argument. There is a very real possibility that a dentist could get fluids spat in his face therefore reasonable that you should be given information of a potentially hazardous carrier of something like HIV.

However, cruise lines do not ask for HIV status. They don't ask if you had an H1N1 shot... why THIS particular one?

Knox County: 51,699 cases, down 54
Rhea County: 4,382 cases; 74 deaths, down 1

Right now it's bc of the CDC. They don't want to ask. But they would like to set sail and make some money before they go tits up. Also you have to think about international ports. We don't have rights or protections from Jamaica. You want to go on a cruise to the Caribbean you are going to have to show that card. Not cruise lines fault.

What would an adequate response had been? To start foaming at the mouth and rolling on the floor?
I saw pictures of my sister-in-law’s friend that were truly horrifying. She had a bad reaction to the vaccine including a horrible rash head to toe, blisters, her limbs were swollen to about twice the normal size, and she was in excruciating pain. They actually treated her as a burn victim for a while because that’s what it looked like on the surface of her skin. Perhaps there was foaming as well but I have no idea on that. She was lucky it didn’t kill her.

So who wants to take a stab as to why this study is absolute horse crap? Because it is but of course it isn't called out.

'Lockdown' states like California did better economically than 'looser' states like Florida, new COVID data shows
Well it sort of is.
The UCLA report also suggests that “the answer lies in the structure of the California economy.” In California, “sectors with a high degree of human contact” — that is, “leisure and hospitality, education, retail trade, and health care and social services” — contributed only “0.3 percentage points to annual GDP growth over the decade preceding the pandemic.” But last year, “they accounted for 75 percent of the state’s job losses.”

Meanwhile, the sectors driving growth in California — “information, professional and business services, manufacturing and financial services” — weren’t hit nearly as hard. That helps to explain the discrepancy between the state’s unemployment rate and its overall economic performance. UCLA expects “many of those lost jobs to return.”]
Florida lives and dies off of tourism. California has far more tech driving GDP. So when you beat the drum that we must all stay home or we'll die, the people telecommuting keep telecommuting, but the people working at Disney, Universal, the beaches, etc. are screwed. On the flip side of this, I think you're going to see Florida's economy outpace California for growth in this year and into next.

Yea not the issue I have with the article. Government spending is part of the GDP calculation. Cali, and other lockdown states, have not only higher unemployment rates but significantly higher state pay outs then Texas or Florida. They are getting credit for giving money to unemployed people. Which their policies drastically increased that number when compared to Florida or Texas

All I'm saying is don't give your health provider a hard time over this. I'll add that if they've tested positive for C19, I treat them as if they've been vaccinated. At that point I don't care if they've had C19

As for H1N1, don't go there. Don't be Rush Limbaugh and say that C19 is just like the flu
