You could go in for a knee replacement, test positive for Covid, and become a "hospitalized patient with Covid". The Covid isn't the reason you're there, and potentially not even an issue, but the Feds will pick up any associated costs with that diagnosis. Not so. Simply coding a patient as Covid positive did nothing. The facility had to provide treatment, and the treatment would be reimbursed. If someone came in with severe food poisoning, the hospital couldn't code him as a Covid case and expect to get paid unless they were willing to treat the barfy dude for Covid.

Pre op testing requires negative covid no more 6 days before surgery. I have seen a negative become a positive while in the hospital for recovery. In that case they go to step down or ICU depending on the surgery. In other words they are considered to contract it while in hospital. You could go in for a knee replacement, test positive for Covid, and become a "hospitalized patient with Covid". Whatever codes CMS deems worthy. This is not some vast conspiracy, I don't think these facilities are doing anything wrong. The government said they'd cover the tab for those with corona, and they're just following through. Hospitals desperate for revenue after losing nonessential surgeries and outpatient treatments while trying to maintain staffing would be stupid not to explore every avenue to increase income. What costs of a knee replacement would be costs that could also be coded as treating Covid?

Great source....just kidding!!!!!!https://assets.publishing.service.g...ants_of_Concern_VOC_Technical_Briefing_18.pdf
Scroll down to the bottom of page 17, more people died from the Delta variant that were vaccinated than weren't.

My niece died after getting the vaccine….. developed pneumoniaThe VAERS site is maddening. People reporting Pfizer Covid vaccine given to people who died before 2020. People reporting symptoms that occurred before the vaccine was started in trials. We have about 3 million Americans die yearly and if you vaccinate a large portion of your elderly population it stands to reason that about 1-2 million will die regardless based on statistics. If you give 200 million a saline shot or a multivitamin you will have 200k die within a month of administering on average. Do not envy the people having to go through that data.
I dont think that conclusion is intellectually honest. It's true, but it's an argument of convenience rather than accepted protocol.Vaccinated people are less likely to die from the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 compared to unvaccinated people; viral claim misinterpreted PHE report
Conclusion
The claim that people are more likely to die from the Delta variant if they have been vaccinated is false, as it ignores the fact that deaths from COVID-19 occur mainly in high-risk groups, which have a higher vaccine coverage than the general population. No vaccine offers perfect protection, meaning that some cases and deaths would still occur in the vaccinated population. But COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at reducing both the risk of hospitalization and the risk of death from COVID-19, and have prevented tens of thousands of deaths in the U.K. alone, demonstrating that vaccination has greatly improved our situation in contrast to a time when no COVID-19 vaccine was available.
So the vaccine only reduces risk of death by what? Less than 1/3? That's a far cry from the 90% that has been pushed. The UK is over 2/3 fully vaccinated. So, less than 1/2 of delta deaths have come out of greater than 2/3 of the population.
This is why I say that I trust the numbers, but I don't trust anyone that tries to tell me what they mean.

The only way they "should" be any where close to even is if it was 9vaxxed for 1 unvaxxed. Not 2 vs 1.
