Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

As I've said before, I firmly believe that the most important principal for us should be to remain open minded, creative, and cooperative in order to figure a way out of this pandemic. Continuing to do things one way, just because someone guessed it was the right way, not continually searching for better treatments, not considering alternative vaccine technologies, resorting to costly knee-jerk shutdowns and mandates without firm evidence that they are worth the price. . . . All mistakes.

Society does all the time. This shat will get old soon too. And everything will go back to normal and some people will die of Covid. At some point it will be political suicide to keep trying to restrict people. You already have BLM furious with liberal NY politicians for vaccine passports.

It' something. After 9/11 we spent enormous amounts of money on security. We've got to protect everyone against terrorism!

We're still paying a lot in terms of time wasted for screening, etc. And yet right now more people die from COVID every day that a whole planeload of people blown up by a terrorist.

Yep. We have a Muslim boogie man issue and now a Covid boogie man issue in this country. Hell I was guilty of it early on in this pandemic. Learned a valuable lesson.

Ohio is rough honestly...ppl are nice enough but not a pretty state...which is kinda strange...PA has some beautiful areas..also IN and MI...other than the Reds and being forced to go there on business. I've never even thought about visiting for fun
I’ve lived in three areas of Ohio. Also lived in a couple places in East TN, one in Eastern KY, and currently reside in western PA.

The only positives I can come up with for the geographical attributes in Ohio are some fairly nice places along Lake Erie, the whitetail hunting through much of the eastern part of the state is phenomenal, and Hocking Hills in SE Ohio is very pretty … and MAYBE Amish Country is a nice day trip. Other than that, it’s very “blah”. The cities are all very “meh” as well.

I’m certainly partial to E TN, and (as you mentioned) PA has some very pretty places. Even the cities in PA are much more interesting to visit than any of the Ohio cities (though I personally think Philly sucks).

That's a tough question. I left out of my post that in the past year and a half, I've seen a half dozen suicide attempts, more depression and anxiety than ever, kids developing insulin resistance and hypertension due to lifestyle interruption, etc. There have been several teenage suicides in the area (compared to zero CV19 deaths).

Health and the preservation of life is a complex, multifaceted issue. The "cure" should never be worse than the disease.

Check the data on heart disease, cancer, alcohol-related deaths and disease, and diabetes. Then, drive down to your local quicky mart and just observe the purchases for 10 minutes. On your way home, count the number of fast food restaurants and liquor stores.

I am worried about my daughter. She's ten. Over the last several months she's become apprehensive. To the point where at brunch yesterday she wouldn't tell the server what she wanted to eat, I asked her after a long silence is everything ok, and she burst into tears. I have never seen her like this. After she calmed down she told us she got too nervous to talk. Earlier that day we had the convo with her that she had to go back to wearing masks in school on Monday. We are signing her up for someone to talk to. Not good.

Man, I hate to hear this, and I can't tell you how common a problem this has become. I dealt with it, to a degree, with one of my own children.

Making matters worse, it's become very difficult to get kids in with a good counselor/therapist because of the dramatic increase in demand.

Will pray that she is able to get some help and feel better.

It's good to know we aren't alone. As terrible as that sounds.

Like I told slice earlier. They need to stop calling this a vaccine. This is a therapeutic. It doesn't prevent you from getting or transmitting COVID. At best, what it does is maybe suppress some of the symptoms.
I don't believe that. I think there are some that the vaccine just doesn't work for. I don't know what the percentage is but I think you could give them a booster weekly and it wouldn't matter.

After two shots of polio vaccine you are essentially where we are at with Covid after two. After 4 good to go. Perspective is important . I am not saying we should get 4 shots. Just providing perspective.
