I’m not saying I’m ok or not with it. I’m just stating the legal reasoning behind the law. And I’m definitely ok with it for the deadly diseases I mentioned. We had a guy one time so sick that septic infection and TB poured out of his bones and skin lesions. So yea I’m ok with forcing that guy to not be allowed anywhere in public alone

It's a funny discussion because I believe most of us would say states should be sovereign and able to decide this for themselves but also that they shouldn't ban travel for this reason.

I'm all for HI being able to set their own entrance rules for US citizens however that same ability should be afforded all other states.

Hawaii isn't banning travel. I can agree with your entire statement, but I don't know that the last bit is terribly relevant until a state starts banning travel.

The flu can be very deadly, especially to children. Are you ok with Oklahoma requiring a flu vaccine card or a negative test to enter Oklahoma?

Every other state has the same power, and other states have enacted similar restrictions (though most have eased off).

It’s the state’s right to handle their local affairs as they see fit according within legal guidelines

That's inaccurate. They aren't required to quarantine until they decide to disclose their records. If they don't want to disclose their records they will not be required to do so, but they will have to quarantine for a specified length of time.

Isn't it more accurate to say, Hawaii is forewarning people if they wish to travel to Hawaii they will need to disclose a very small portion and relevant part of their medical history. And if potential tourists are unwilling to do that, do not come to Hawaii.

Exactly, they essentially place you under arrest until you disclose your medical history to them.

That's just as accurate as the way I phrased it and I'm ok with that as long as other states are not barred from enacting whatever arbitrary requirements for visitors they choose.

I wouldn't be okay with the situation you're railing against. But given that you're railing against a dystopian fantasy of your own making, it doesn't really matter if anyone is okay with it or not.
