Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Never said that. I'm just encouraging people to be their real selves. If they feel I deserve their mockery or indignation, then so be it. Fighting it is merely swimming upstream.
So far, everyone I’ve known has had covid. Many masked religiously but still got it. Some even double masked and got it. Then again I hang with those who get directly exposed.

I’m actually glad I got it early on. Gave me a great perspective on what my patients were going through. I still won’t mask 😷 outside work.
I have no idea if I've ever had it. I've never felt bad enough to go get a covid test and the one time that I thought I might have had it I took a "home" test and it was negative.

You're right; my apologies. Please continue to heap indignation upon me. I deserve it.

This is a little absurd, Ash. You are very quick to make yourself out to be a victim, while in other posts blanket smearing Christians and conservatives by hypothesizing what you think they might say…not necessarily what has been said to you here. You seem to get real pleasure out of it, yet nobody is showing you their whipping marks.

You complain about things that go in here daily, as if they are only directed at you. The guy you are arguing with gets called worse on a regular basis here. Whether you think it’s earned or not is really beside the point. It’s not just you. The victim thing is not healthy.

You may already have antibodies and not know it. We have had a few in ICU for other reasons showing antibodies and no documented history of shots or covid.

If I were playing the victim, I'd be asking for others to come to my rescue and save me from the bad people hurting me.

And you bet I hold Christianity and conservatism to high standards. They're the traditions I was born and raised in and I can't stand the crazy direction the American variants are headed in.

How do you know you got it from your son?

He had it several days before my wife and I did, was the only person besides my wife and daughter I had been in physical contact with or even within close proximity to. None of my students or fellow faculty were ill or tested positive in that time period.

Process of elimination, but I'm also open the fact I might be wrong.

That’s cool. You be you. Just pointing out you complain about some of what you do yourself.

Vaxxed, boosted, wore a mask religiously when required, still got it. From my vaxxed and masked teenage son, no less.
I was exposed to it constantly, intubating patients no-less and I’ve never officially had it. Though, I think I (along with my whole family, wife and two kids) had it in February before it was “officially” in the US. Never had an antibody test to know for sure before I started the vaccine regimen. None in my household has had it. I’m a CRNA, my wife an ICU nurse on a COVID + unit, 2 year old in daycare, and a first grader 🤷🏻‍♂️

Between exposed, had it, and vaccinated we have to be at 100% of the population or very near to it at this point. Combine that with we know how it works and who is the most vulnerable, and there is zero reason to go back to any draconian measures or even approaching it.

My campus has no mask mandate. Professors can ask that you wear a mask in their class, but are not allowed to make any comment or take any action if you choose not to wear one.

The number of students who are choosing of their own accord to wear masks indoors is an interesting phenomenon. Our choir is on tour; they were all masked for the two weeks leading up to it thanks to a flu bug going around town. I have also had more students notify me they aren't coming to class because they feel ill, then the clinic sending their teachers a visit notice.

If something good comes from the pandemic, I hope it is that we see a continued trend of increased self-care and community awareness.
People still wear those idiotic masks, but have already stopped washing their hands after taking a **** at the gym.

So apparently all that cloth and experimental drugs injected into you didn't do any good. Yet you still champion it all. I really don't get it. You gonna keep getting boosted when the .gov says to?

/Checks posting history

Nope, I've been far from championing it. I was pro mask at the start but that took a turn a while back. Also pro-business determination but not pro government mandate.

I'm not getting another booster.

I hope you find peace.

Weekend trip to Florida. Maybe half a dozen masks on the planes. St Pete airport had very few people with masks.

I don't care if folks wear one, but it does make me wonder why in many cases. Ex. the person at a packed amusement park wearing a mask when no one else in their group (or the park, really) is wearing one. Groups of students roaming the parks and one or two might have one on when their 8 friends don't. Curious what they are thinking or why they are wearing one. Do what you want by all means, but I bet there are a lot of strange reasons why folks make the decision.

He did the same thing about his health conditions without blaming the one person who really caused it, himself

No you weren’t

What makes you the expert on me over myself?

While I've got you here:

You claim I get pissy and take off for months to hide. The last three times I've taken extended breaks were to finish my dissertation and find a new job in 2020, early this year because I had a severe case of Covid and wasn't doing much of anything, and Lent.

Yeah, I sometimes post conflicting things. I do my best not to. I do not hide the fact that I'm Neurodivergent / non-neurotypical. You get what you get with me.

I am proud of the fact that I know so many outliers, fringe dwellers, and people doing their best to make it in systems not set up for their circumstances. Their lives are valuable and their stories are important to share.

By all means keep trying to chip away. Others see what you do and call you out for it. You are known by your fruits as well as I am. If you're going to keep riding me, then hang on tight; I'm going to have fun with it.

No one is owed or deserves an explanation about our posting habits and/or breaks from the community.

I think it is important we all remind ourselves this is a "time passer" and "entertainment" activity. The things we discuss are not changing the world for the better or the worse.
