Thinking back over the past 3 years, so much of it seems like a movie, not reality. I catch myself wondering: "did they really do that?" Aside from my kids bitching and joking about their gaiters or "masks" and people waiting in their cars for appointments for the first few months, life changed very little for me.

Hell I didn’t even follow the Knox county mask mandate. I loved all the looks I got in stores.

The only place my family was ever truly inconvenienced by Covid was the school masking.

The funniest thing to me is when I go into the office and a coworker is wearing a mask. Then management has a team lunch then said coworker walks to the table still masked then takes it off during the meal.

Yea, national chains like Kroger, Publix, etc were much less willing to say anything to me.

The local guy was the place where you might encounter some issue from a store owner. Like you, I developed some new shopping locations.

The hermit strategy has proven it doesn’t work and only produces more problems. How about they stop releasing viruses. That would help. Then again that doesn’t kill the non productive society members IMO.

I trust the medical profession less. I changed doctors a year and a half ago after I was told that I needed to get the "safe and effective" jab in my last visit to the previous doctor. I switched doctors not long after that. My parents' doctor pushed the jab/boosters and pushes them into all of these prescriptions. I can no longer stand that man.

China Builds ‘Optional’ Quarantine Camps to Meet Coronavirus Surge

China’s state-run Global Times on Thursday reported quarantine camps have been built near large cities like Hangzhou to deal with the immense surge of coronavirus infections. Residence in these camps is optional, at least for the time being.

According to Hangzhou health officials quoted by the Global Times, district and county administrations were ordered to build camps with a combined total of 16,030 beds “for people who opt for collective quarantine.”

In addition to the 16,000 quarantine beds, district officials also instructed hotels to begin offering “quarantine packages” for those who found the massive camps a little too grim, but did not wish to quarantine themselves at home. Participating hotels were given caps on room and board prices, and are required to have medical workers on site.

China’s huge and unpleasant quarantine camps were not “optional” during most of the pandemic. Dictator Xi Jinping herded thousands into the camps at gunpoint, and those who resisted were subjected to shocking police brutality. Children were ruthlessly separated from their parents. Quarantine enforcers were caught on video beating family pets to death after their owners were marched into the camps.

I'm doing my best to keep from watching the news but I may have missed something. China is having its highest infection/ death of covid since this whole thing began but only now allowing its citizens to fly internationally. Also, I've not heard of any restrictions keeping the most infected nation from entering other countries. Is it the same varient or a new one getting ready to take over the world? I see the beginnings of a new conspiracy(truth) theory.

We won’t know until it’s widespread here, but very good chance it’s nothing for us to worry about.

It's China so I literally trust nothing that they say.

The literature and data I have access to reports that Omicron, esp the BF.1 variant is driving the outbreak there.

Think BA.1 was the first Omicron, but I don't really concern myself much with the subvariants, as it's really inconsequential.

Correction: BF.7 is one of the predominant in China
