Nobody knew for sure back in 2020 but anyone suggesting it was anything other than natural animal to animal to human transmission was mocked and deplatformed.

That's the real issue. It's just one of many examples of how straying from the "official" view was hazardous to one's career (natural immunity role (Lancet finally admits), masking efficacy, lock-down efficacy, impact on learning of lockdowns, vaccine efficacy and side effects, etc.)

That's where I am personally in that there seems now some doubt for our agencies and add that to the refusal to allow investigation on site, it naturally causes suspicions to increase.

Fun little flashback of all the "lab leak theory" is a fringe, nut-job conspiracy theory. The replies are a series of media statements mocking the notion and anyone that espoused it.

The best is a reporter from NBC saying that China and Peter Daszak (guy doing gain of function research on corona virus) told her it didn't come from the WIV. LOL

I don't agree that ANYONE saying that in 2020 was mocked or "deplatformed." Again, this had a lot to do with the way that some used it for political gain right from the start. Using the lab theory to call it the "China virus" in order to score cheap political points muddied the waters and, rightly, caused people to question the objectivity of the speaker/poster. Surely you can see how that would be true.

The information came from scientists. Those scientists were called fringe (even by Fauci and Collins). Scientists pushing these ideas were blocked, shadow banned and more.

Someone on Fox telling what these scientists said are being no more political than someone MSNBC who mocks it.

You so badly want to believe your party line that you have resort to defending the reaction to the lab leak theory as legitimate. The people labeling it so were wrong - and they were just a political as the people promoting the theory.

You’d think that if Chinese scientists could prove to the world the chain of transmission from bats to humans, not just “the wet market,” that would close the case as well.

I would imagine there are multiple newsrooms scrambling for favorable sound bites where the lab leak theory isn’t dismissed out of hand as disinformation.

Have they found any yet?

I'm not going to hunt for all of it but I recall seeing Fauci many times say that it still needed to be researched and that nothing was definitive.

In fact, here he is quoted some five months ago:

“I have a completely open mind about that, despite people saying that I don’t,” Fauci said, when asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” about the theory that the virus may have leaked from a lab in China in 2019.

Fauci acknowledged that a group of international, respected virologists has written that strong evidence shows the virus jumped from animals to humans, but said it “hasn’t been definitively proven.”

“Even when there’s nothing to hide, they act in a suspicious, non-transparent way,” Fauci said of the Chinese government.

The same guy that said "if you get the shots, you aren't going to catch COVID" and also that previously-infected people would be included in the "protected group," but should still get the shots.

Where’s the minority opinion scientist that went on NBC/CNN and referred to the lab leak theory as likely?

Where the host and panel said - “sure, that’s an interesting 2nd theory you’ve proposed”

Where they were not labeled peddlers of “debunked” disinformation.

Where are those sound bites?

Five months ago?

Try 2 years ago. Five months ago the worm had turned and Fauci had to acknowledge the plausibility.

In Spring of 2020 (as kiddiedoc posted and as I have encouraged you to examine) he and the NIH head Collins convened a group of scientists (a sizeable portion of which felt the lab leak theory was quite plausible) and massaged them until they produced a paper basically saying the lab leak theory was disproven. That became the gospel and deviation meant you were conspiracy theorist. All the email discussions have finally been released thanks to multiple FOIAs and not surprisingly they were released (at least in some redacted form - now they are complete) prior to the quote your provided above.

5mos ago. When this initially came out he often cited a paper that claimed “we do not believe that any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible” even though his emails said otherwise. Dr. Francis Collins said the same

He even admitted publicly (as he often does after his earlier comments don't come true) that part of the debunking of the lab leak theory was to protect the reputation of science and scientists (particularly Chinese scientists). If you read the email deliberations where they shifted from what caused it to how do we disprove the lab leak theory you'll see this in the deliberations as well. Another noble lie?
