Lauren Cox sets official visits

I am trying very hard to have faith that we will get at least one big time big. If we go another year and not fill all of our scholarships, or take care of our main position of need, I think our program is in trouble.

I agree. there is almost no way we can go one whole recruiting cycle without signing at least one top level lady and not drop significantly. ie see what the men's football team is going through with their off. line. Dooley went a whole recruiting class without signing an. off. lineman. if they now were at least average we would be competing for sec east title.
edit. uh, maybe not with our pass def.

Probably the top 5 most attractive (not physically) coaches right now recruiting wise are Luigi, Muffet, Frese, Dawn, and Kim. Holly just isn't there yet. I'd say Wahl and Tara are ahead of her too. We need to get back into that top 5.

I think you have to throw McCallie @ Duke in front of Stanford. She always gets a couple top 25 players every year. And for her to not make it to a final four since ???? I'm surprised she is still around, because she isn't producing much at Duke.

I don't think Freese is a great coach. I put her in the same category McCallie @ Duke. They both bring in really good recruits. I feel Maryland has been very lucky in the tournament drawings. The last two years, going through a Tennessee team that .... well we all know the story. They deserve the credit they have received due to the back to back final fours. But I'm not placing any of that credit towards their coach. Just like if we would of beat Maryland last year, it wouldn't of been because Holly, it would've been due to any player that could make a basket, especially an outside shot.

I think Holly will be in the same sentence as McCallie here soon if she doesn't produce. But I believe this is our year so I'm not worried :)

If she doesn't produce ... you mean if she doesn't make the final four + win it all. You may not be happy with her recruiting or her coaching but the team has produced just hasn't advanced beyond the Elite 8. Without one recruit in 2016, if this year's team can stay away from a major injury to the players then the Lady Vols have the talent to be a final four and championship team and then 2017 & 2018 players be will to commit earlier rather than later plus we would probably sway any late announcing 2016 players to the Big Orange!

The best recruiting tool is WINNING and having the high profile that comes with going to final fours and winning national titles. We've been away from the top for quite a long time now--and that is affecting our recruiting. That is why this year is crucial.

As for Freese, she is a good, very tough-minded coach. She is not likable but tough. Warlick is likable and not very tough, though tries to be. Players, alas, know the difference, and that, IMO, is an issue for UT. Maryland had a better team than we did two years ago in the NCAA, but that wasn't the case in the last game between us. It was very winnable, even without Harrison. It was there to be won but we didn't--played scared again. That has to change this year.

They didn't lose because they were scared IMO. They lost because they had a 6'-2" player trying to play against two 6'-5" players and because they couldn't hit an outside shot. It was a winnable game alright, but they played as tough and as hard as they could. Scared? Nope, outmanned.

That big stocky Maryland post kind of owned them in the paint. The problem is we've been too thin at post. When your post goes down and you have no one to fill in at our level that's a problem.

points 48
Field Goals 22-68, 32.4%
Free Throws 0-1, 0.0%
3-Pointers 4-22, 18.2%

Rebounds were even, turnovers 11 ... we truly lost this game on the offensive side.

LOL. We were DEFINITELY scared, which is why we couldn't hit an outside shot. We put up less than 50 against a program like Maryland who has always been known for poor defense.

We needed someone to take over the game and that has been missing for a long time when we play BIG games. I don't think scared is in Diamond's personality so that's a plus for us.

I've been criticized in the past for referring to the team as "they" and was told it doesn't show unity. Now I refer to them as "we" and someone who thinks they're clever decides to point it out. You aren't clever and you aren't funny. You're lame.

If you don't think we played scared ... you're a damn idiot. And I'll leave it at that.

When a pitcher recounts his failures in a game he words "I didn't attack the hitters" or I was trying to be too perfect, or not having a rhythm. Never, I was scared of the hitter or to throw a strike.

A bowler will not complete the last frame to have the perfect 300 - was he scared, nervous perhaps,

A football halfback will run east and west rather than hitting the hole to get a few tough yards north and south. Why? probably not because he was scared.

I've had an angry person point a gun at me "I was scared."

Summary: I know I am not clever and I guess I'll be labeled a damn idiot because I don't define the way they lost as being "scared." tentative, hesitant, missing the go-to offensive spark.

Why do you people insist on creating arguments over semantics? I really don't have the patience to coddle anyone's fragile state of mind over the use of a friggin' word. You can call it whatever you want. Make up a word for it for all I care. Act offended over someone's word choice if you want -- it says more about your mindset than it does mine. You're basically agreeing me me by calling it "tentative", so no you wouldn't be a damn idiot. I believe you know exactly what I mean. You don't think 'tenative' and 'hesitant' are at least loosely synonymous with 'scared'? You're just unwilling to be as blunt about it as I am. I'm a blunt and honest person. I don't sugar coat anything and I don't skate around how I feel. And I make zero apologies for it. If that offends you, I do not care, and I won't be walking eggshells for any of you pollyannas anytime soon.

If you think we care about your hatred for the rest of the world, we don't. We come here to find out about the Lady Vols. So, if you don't have anything of substance to add to that discussion, then STFU.

VC isn't wearing panties!:) VC is a guy! Sometimes he is bluntly honest...to some folks that's construed as anti-Tennessee. Nothing could be further from the truth...he is extremely loyal and bleeds orange. A few weeks ago, I left The Summitt board when personally attacked by a couple of posters who couldn't stomach the truth about Annie Aldrete, who later transferred after revealing that she was playing last season with the emotional burden of losing her best friend at the very beginning of the softball season. Great kid...great player...but played nowhere near her potential last season. Even Ralph Weekly, in a post season press conference praised Aldrete as a great gal...great player...but reminded everyone that she did hit under 300 for the season...and stated that Tennessee would be "just fine" without her after wishing her the best in future endeavors. Point I'm making...just because you come across as critical, doesn't mean that you hate or dislike a player. It's quite the opposite sometimes...
