Leonard Fournette Sitting Out Citrus Bowl

In my opinion, that one hit propelled his "legend" and earned him the number one overall pick.

He was the number one recruit in the country. He's a really good and incredibly talented player. That's what earned him the number one pick.

Bowls don't matter. No point in getting injured in one like Jaylon Smith did

Wonder how long before this becomes epidemic/standard. Or pro-bowlish 2 hand touch so to speak. Because what exactly is the big deal of number 20 vs number 25 seed - or the number 75 vs 82 (41 bowls total.)

Outside of what are now called the New Year's Six bowls, the bowl games have never really "mattered" in the sense that they are exhibition games that only fans of the two teams playing and gamblers want to see. I kind of roll my eyes when I hear bellyaching about "too many bowls." If a group of sponsors want to get together, form a committee, invite 2 teams to play in a bowl, they accept, and the game is played, who cares? It can be between 2 0-12 teams - you don't have to watch. If they can get sponsors and sell some tickets, a game is probably going to be played.

This idea of superstar players sitting them out though is a relatively new one. The culture of the sport is changing and it's a generational thing.

This might be the best thing for collage athletes imo . No sense in playing in the mid tier bowl when ur a few months from getting paid

This will become a trend if universities just let it go. And it will eventually move to the major bowls as well. It is just a likely that a NFL bound player paying in one of playoff games gets hurt.

If a player is that afraid of getting hurt playing the game - not sure they are tough minded enough to play in the NFL.

It has nothing to do with which bowl - it is the idea of a player being one of 11 out there on the field giving their all for the team .... verses the "it is all about me mentality".

Do you feel the same way about players sitting out NFL preseason games, or other exhibitions that don't count?

You won't have this problem with playoff games, because they actually count for something.

Dude. He's not 100% and sitting out afraid that he might get hurt. He's already hurt and trying to get well.

You are the only person who thinks that. Everything I read says he goes in the fist round. But hey, I guess you are the draft expert

He had one good season and it was against the terrible PAC 12 defenses how did Toby Gerhart work out in the NFL ? and btw what does imo stand for ? He might go high but he will be a bust imo

I don't see it happening. He could theoretically after he gets a few more sacks but I doubt he's that type of person.

The optics would have been better had he not said anything, traveled with the team, dressed out, sat on the bench and supported his team in a non-physical fashion. That would have been far more classy and garnered much less attention.

He cant go he already signed with an agent

Mock drafts before the combine and personal interviews are dart boards. I think he ends up in the 3rd WITH very good running and jumping in the shorts olympics.

I'm willing to bet he goes first round barring injury to come or undisclosed
