After leaving a birthday party, he crashed into and killed a woman in 1998, and blew a .19% blood alcohol level, over double the legal limit. He got 4 years probation and 1,000 hours of community service. It is an interesting myth, at least from my perspective working in the criminal justice field, that most people go to jail and only the rich and famous get off.
In fact I would say that most people get off, but only the rich and famous have a news story published about it.

In 2004, he was arrested for DWI while going 78mph in a 55mph zone.He failed 3 roadside sobriety tests, and admitted drinking to police. He was convicted of misdemeanor speeding, but acquitted on DWI. He got 2 years probation that time.
But, he played a game involving a leather ball at U.T., and he's a VFL, so all is forgiven. It's not like it was your mother who died.
If the guy hadn't played football at U.T., and had killed a member of your family while driving drunk, how would you feel about him? Especially after he didn't learn his lesson and drove while intoxicated again.I bet you'er not perfect neither.
Not really wanting to get into a debate about LL and his past transgressions, but please use common sense when it comes to what he did and not write it off as no big deal. A husband lost his wife and children lost their mother. That is a very big deal.

Should football players get a pass? I mean , if that's okay with you, just say it. Should O.J. have been given a pass because he played a stupid game with a leather ball?
He made a terrible mistake (I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose), should he just say "F life, I'm not worthy of trying to overcome it, I'll just feel sorry for myself and stick with a bottle and drain every cent from the taxpayers I can"?
I mean come on, no one is voting for him as "The Man of the Year", we're posting about a tweet.
I got ya. I watch every football game that Tennessee plays, but I keep it in perspective. It's a stupid game with a leather ball. All games are stupid. I played them all years ago, and still play golf, which is really stupid, but I'm getting too old for the others now. My point is that people put these athletes on a pedestal that they don't belong on.Hey... say what you want, but dont the game with the leather ball stupid.

Who said he did it on purpose? I'm fairly certain he didn't jump in his car and say "I'm gonna go kill someone", but he was intoxicated and he chose to drive. Someone died, it was his fault. IMO you learn from that experience and never make that mistake again. LL didn't learn that lesson. I'm not judging him, but he doesn't need defending either. He's a grown man that made poor decisions. He's not a victim. But there are victims in the story, and they deserve sympathy.
