I'm sure I will be the only one that believes that Kiffin would be very successful at LSU. Keep the existing DC and put his personal stamp on the offense, could be a winning formula.
Gotta believe he has learned a thing or two working with Satan for these last years
If not Kiffin, then definitely they have to take a re-tread for an up-and-comer offensive coach. I can't see like a Herman leave U of H for previously stated reasons. They might go after Whittingham or Fedora, but doubt they would leave their current jobs for that pressure cooker.
The irony is that how Miles was fired, and how he was perceived to be fired by non-LSU people, will make it harder for them to get a top-tier coach.
First off, it looks funny to some people that he was on the hot seat/fired to begin with considering how much he was won. Then to make it worse, they were going to fire him last year, then didn't pull the trigger and let him come back with his seat hotter than ever, then fire him mid-season this year.
I agree.

They have a crazed, SCLSU Muddogs-type fanbase that is awesome to have when you are winning but will turn on you so fast it'll make your head spin when you're losing.
According to the USA Today Miles buyout is $12.9 MM and the staff is another $5.4 MM.
Would Herman still be able to recruit the Houston area like he does now if he went to one those schools ? LSU is the perfect choice for him if he leaves Houston
Sounds remotely familiar.
Fulmer had 2 losing seasons, recruiting had really slipped, and he was pretty far removed from his glory years when we fired him. Les' worst season is 8-5, he still pulls in top 5 recruiting classes every year, and they won the SEC/played for the National Title just 5 years ago.
We were more justified in firing Fulmer than LSU is with Miles. What LSU people need to understand (and I'm not sure they do) is that you can't make just a "pretty good" hire to replace him, and you will set your program back 10 years if you make a bad hire. It has to be a home run.
