Let's compare Jesus and Muhammed (and debate homosexuality) (and Tombstone).

It's hearsay?? You do realize that the way they did the history back then was by word of mouth

Could not be farther from the truth. Have you ever heard of Herodotus?

What do you think was housed in the Library of Alexandria? I'll give you a hint: Hebrew religious texts, Classical Greek Philosophy, histories, etc.

Thousands of people talked with the Greek gods and millions with the Hindu gods. They even wrote books about it.

Funny how, in a thread about Jesus and Mohammed, you could compare Jesus to Zeus or Saraswati. Even Muslims and Jews believe Jesus walked the earth. There are some Hindu historians that believe he travelled as far as India.

Well, he did say he didn't read the New Testament, so maybe he's Jewish??

Purportedly, a Jew was the main character in this "New Testament" - and yet, its impossible to believe that other Jews have read it.

Your limitless Rx has turned rancid. But for a brief shining few posts, it was Camelot.

Most do not agree that he was resurrected and then appeared to 500 people.

Sorry man, you can't move back and forth between there being a God about some things, and not others. There either is a God you believe in, or there isn't, and you dictate what you do. There is no either or, and trying to quote me scripture without even read it, is like giving me relationship advice and never having a girlfriend.

Who in the he*l are you to tell me what I can or cannot believe - and when I believe it?! Is this the way that you intend to dig your faith out of this self-made pit of ignorance - by digging faster? Interesting strategy.

If your god is so easily defined and contained, then count me as a deacon in the church of atheism. Our pastor is Richard Simmons and Alice Cooper teaches Sunday School.

You do realize that the Jews had Jesus put to death right through the Romans?? Jews typically don't associate themselves with the New Testament, unless they covert to Christianity. It's funny too, that Jesus would tell them to go to the Jews first, then the Gentiles. Even then God knew that his people would turn the majority of their backs against Jesus and the Apostles.

This explains why there is universal acceptance of Jesus' human life and deitiistic status. Is that correct?

And who are these "thousands of theologians or historians" who witnessed these things, again?

You said evidence Jesus was man, not a deity. Correct? And I didn't say these historians saw him but that they believe and have written that he was a historical figure.

See, I wasn't even being close to confrontational, and all it took was this post for you to show your true side.

There are more than a few credible historians that still hold the view that Jesus was not a historical figure, though.

It's hearsay?? You do realize that the way they did the history back then was by word of mouth, and most historians agree that to do what they did and maintain that history throughout the years, until finally a manuscript was agreed upon, is not only astonishing, but nearly impossible without some type of divine intervention.

The Iliad was divinely inspired?! Please, continue and elaborate on this point.

As opposed to billions that do. In this paricular instance, I'll go with the majority.

It's not; if it were, Homer would have made Diomedes a god. As it stands, he ended up just being a man, a badass, no doubt, but still, regrettably, still just a man.

He believes, but he needs help with his unbelief.

Does that make sense to anyone?

I'm with D.

Were there a god as described by Christians - S/he would not only be keenly aware of my disbelief, but would welcome its honest existence.

The majority is always right.

Well then, let's try TD's approach: can you provide evidence, empirical or otherwise, he never lived? Feel free to use the arguements of as many 'credible' historians you like.

However unintentionally its intended or gently it may be provided, it should be expected for fools to find the unmitigated truth to be repugnant.

It is both unprovable and unfalsifiable: one can be justified in believing he was a historical figure; as well, one can be justified in believing he was not.

OK-I get it. I have no problem with you not believing in Jesus as divine. But do you honestly not belive that Jesus lived and is accepted by many as an historical figure? Seriously? You think he never was here?

Just wondering Tenacious, are you married, got kids, anything??

I must presume by your line of questioning that you are about to ask me out. While not totally surprised, I must politely decline. First, I'm not a homosexual, and secondly, even if I were, I certainly wouldn't want to go to hell over it.

Of course, correct me if my presumption was in error - and otherwise better explain your questions.

How you got any of that out of what I asked, tells me a lot about the person on the other side of the keyboard.
