Lets get gundy!

I think Chavis makes around $1 million now--or close to it--and he won't return to UT to be DC again. Been there, done that. Plus he was pissed when Fulmer got sacked. Plus he's gets to work with strong talent at lsu.

He makes 900,000. I was giving him a 200,000.00 raise to come home. Under a new AD, maybe he would consider it. Shannon would be an option as well. Or Narduzzi from Michigan State.

Oky state is 7-5, lost to baylor today and has a bad defense. No thanks

All the more reason to swoop in and strike while we might be able to save a little cash. The Okie St fans are "fire the coaches"!! We are like "We'll take em"!!

9-10 wins in 2013.

Gundy's OSU team lost its last two games this year, leading to a 7-5 record--but he did very well in his first two seasons (2010, 2011). Check out their scores--OSU has put up a TON of points the last three years; must average about 35+ a game. But they've been a little soft on defense--and nobody's going to score quite like that in the SEC, though college football is a lot more high-scoring nowadays than ever before. Few teams were as pathetic as we were on defense--but a lot of teams in CF give up a lot of points every week. The only way we get Gundy is if he's dying to coach in the SEC and we give him a big contract---$5 million plus. He's got a good situation at OSU, and it's pretty obvious that Boone will pull out his checkpoint if he thinks Gundy is seriously mulling a change.

It is about staff. Hart needs to hire the guy who can put together a kick-ass staff.

Alright, it seems far fetched to think he would leave Ok. State, but, if this isn't a scenario for him to get more money from his current employer, is he a legitimate contender for HC here at UT?

You obviously dont have kids. Do you know what it's like to have your kid come home crying to his mom? didnt think so.

Just did some reading on Gundy's deal. The above poster is correct in that his deal is through 2019. He is paid 3.7 million a year with 600,000.00/year of that not paid out until the end of the contract. So he actually makes 3.1 per year. He has a large buyout that is the same throughout the entire deal, 3 million dollars. If he is terminated he would get 75% of the total contract. IF he is fired with cause for say NCAA stuff, he would get that months pay and thats IT.

Not sure Hart would go for an additional 3 million dollar buyout. After a 7-5 seasons, makes you wonder if Boone and company would pay him more to stay in Stillwater.

Sounds like an episode of Dr. Phil.

This is a mobile society...everyone moves for employment advancement these days.

Time to get competitive and get some good leadership in here!

Aww Crap!!

I just noticed who Gundy's agent is.

Damn Jimmy Sexton!! :bash:

Okie State board is quite the buzz with Gundy's interview planned with Hart. One fans response was, "Don't let the door hit you", well you know the rest.

No chance we get this guy. He payed there and has coached there off and on since the early 90s,if I'm not mistaken. Clearly a move for a raise on his part.

I think if he could put together the staff, especially get a quality DC, the sky is the limit. I have to wonder if it gets old being in the shadow of Bob Stoops. He could come here and cast his own shadow over James Franklin and with the right staff, possibly the rest of the SEC, IN DUE TIME. He is the only candidate I feel passionately about at this point of the race. One press conference of him telling Jimmy Hyams that he is a man would be worth it for me. Maybe this record is enough to not get the counter offer from OSU? Who knows? Would be delightful to see him on Rocky top, as opposed to Charlie Strong. I would assume join the library club and get my kicks dusting off old almanacs. JMO

I agree it's a long shot. Here is my reason there may be more to it than that. How smart would it be to try and leverage your boss for a raise after a 7-5 season when you went 12-1 the year before?

There were rumors that Gundy and Boone were not getting along so well.

Just looking for something positive in this coaching search. To me, Gundy/Patterson is about as home run as we could get. I would not hesitate to offer Patterson the same money I would Gundy(4.75 million per).
