Lets get gundy!

Not flaming, but I just can't understand why so many people want Gundy.

His teams have zero defense...not a good fit for SEC IMO.

I don't see Gundy leaving, he signed an 8 year, $30.3M contract in May and has a $3M buyout which he would want us to pick up. . .

Gundy would turn our dumpster fire into a full scale trailer park tragedy. Literally every coach currently in our league is miles ahead of him in every aspect. So, yea, do. Not. Want!

This is something a lot are forgetting about with existing coaches especially the new hires like Fedora and Strong. It's even more so with the bigger names like Paterson, Petersen, Stoops and so-on. They just think Hart can wave several million out there and it's a done deal. It 's money alright but on both sides of the fences.

While his Cowboys have fallen off a bit this year, last year that team was a powerhouse. Wins over A&M, KState, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Baylor, Stanford. IMO, he would do fine in the SEC with SEC talent.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread. It could be a sticking point. I would also think if Hart decides Gundy is his guy, Hart could find the 3 million somewhere. If the money rumors were close on Gruden, the difference between Gruden and Gundy would be almost 2 million. There is most of it right there.

There is a zero percent chance that goofy hick could even come close to recruiting at the elite level coaching at Tennessee demands.

Oky state is 7-5, lost to baylor today and has a bad defense. No thanks

7-5 is two games better than us right now. Baylor just beat the number 1 team in the country. No one said they wanted him to bring his DC with him.

How so? He's done a pretty solid job of recruiting at OSU. Consistently above average in the Big XII.

I hope this is a joke. That "goofy hick" recruited Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon, Dez Bryant and Tatum Bell (to name a few). Maybe you should watch some games tomorrow you will see most of them playing.

You're right...all it takes to win in our league is a good qb and a couple elite wideouts. Oh wait.

Yeah and I already stated on the pervious page he need not bring his DC with him. If we had any hint of a defense this year we win at least 3 more games. You get Gundy and his OC here to Rocky Top and pair them with a proven DC and I'll bet we win 8-9 next year.

guy went 7-5 this year in the BigXII with all of his own players. Yea maybe he could win 8 next year with someone elses players... but once his recruiting sets in we will be lucky to get to 6 wins per season.

Its not that I think he is a bad coach, actually quite the opposite.. I think he is the perfect fit for that cow college he is at now. But in this league he would get eaten alive. Much like Holgerson.

But didn't he play this year with a RS Qb and the loss of their best RB and WR?

Are you trying to make my point for me? He cannot recruit at this level. He arguably can't recruit at the level he is currently at if he didn't have a QB waiting in the wings for when Weeden left. (Weeden, a former baseball player... not someone actually recruited out of high school).

He went 7-5 with a very young team, freshman starting QB. Last year he was 11-1 and without a freak loss to Iowa St he plays LSU in the BCS title game. I think you and I will just have to agree to disagree about Gundy. I just hope we get a good coach that can bring us back to the top.

I'm on board with that. And for the record, I will support whoever we hire, even if it is Mike Gundy.
