Let's talk Yemen

WTF has America's record been against "pissant terrorists" from North Korea, North Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria or (soon) Yemen been?

At some point, you people are going to have to come to the realization that instead of letting off some steam and firing off a few missiles, that there are only two other solutions that are available... diplomacy and mutually beneficial trade/commerce or US boots on the ground. If you MFers are not talking about either of those 2 options, then you are just pump faking and running off at the mouth.
isn't that the exact situation the Houthis created? They lobbed a few missiles, disrupting mutually beneficial trade, while ignoring diplomacy.

as usual your call to actions are completely one sided, and ignore the context of the situation.

we CAN'T have free trade if every nation along the shipping route can launch attacks on the shipping. We can't have free trade if nations not along those shipping routes are supporting the attacks on the trade routes. it would be literally impossible to trade if we allowed the Houthis and Iranians to act as they wanted.

I think most people would agree that assassinating a military general or political leader is an attack. Don't play dumb.
you were the one who made the distinction of our troops in another nation is NOT an attack on us. so it would follow that an attack on another second nations troops in a third nation is not an attack on the second nation.

you were the one who presented the crap logic.

Gives a good idea of how effective Yemeni (Iranian) missiles are. Even when they do get a hit they can't sink ships.

Did I say they had to sink ships? Otherwise, I agree. The Houthi's only goal is to disrupt on the behest of Iran, and as of now they seem to be accomplishing that goal because of shipments having to be diverted around Africa.

The biggest question mark to me is China, especially considering they have a military base so close to all this action in Djibouti. This is also equally impacting Chinese shipments/commerce yet the Chinese are not taking any action to address this. I'm guessing they would rather eat the costs to hurt the West rather than help out with the disruptions.

Well the idiotic simple minded Houthis have progressed beyond the FA phase of the situation and are going to get a sustained dose of FO for an extended period of time now I’d guess.

Is most of Europe and the US's shipping to Israel really coming through the Red Sea, and not the Mediterean? Seeing as how those western nations are either closer to the Med or directly on it.

again they are going after FAR more shipping than Israel.
Anything coming from SE Asia and China to Europe will pass thru the Suez Canal I’d guess

No you didn't. You just implied that their tactics/methods are not effective.

Houthis aren't targetting Chinese shipping.

Uhh huh... I'm sure they are monitoring the situation.

Maybe... but so what if they do? They would be more than justified. But again, the Chinese are not the targets of the Houthis... nor do the Chinese have the ability to end this. Only the US and Israel can end this with a ceasefire.

China has a hand in this. There’s a reason they vetoed a UN Security Council admonishment of the Houthi’s attacking ships last week.

hardly what I imagine is sustaining Israel.

I guess the red sea port could have been their biggest port or something, but I definitely wouldn't consider that a blockade.

And US/British boots on the ground ain't happening. So it looks like that at some point, the US/UK need to choose diplomacy and push for an Israeli ceasefire. We're not going to bomb our way into peace. Just stupid.

I have always taken the CCP ballistic missile threat against our CVNs with skepticism.
Hitting a moving target with a ballistic missle is difficult, and just the fact that the Houthis have this capability is very surprising to me.

I wasn’t disagreeing with you. It was more agreeing for the parties you listed.

I know we’ve told Iran to back off, but if this is the case and their revolutionary guard is providing direct support, it’s time to punch them in the mouth.
