Get entwined in the real world outside the back door.

gibbs, be honest. You're a fraud, aren't you? I mean the part you play here MUST be a caricature. NO ONE can be as foolish as you pretend to be here.

That is a very bourgeois thing to say. Did you learn that at your bourgeois schools or from your bourgeois parents? You are obviously a shill for the bourgeois industrial complex. Your bourgeois opinions have no relationship to the real world and I think you owe gibbs a bourgeoising apology.

No it isn't.

Throw the rest of this stuff out the window... and the very FACT that liberals think they are so morally superior as to force others to give their property to someone else is incredibly "greedy".

If you think enough is not being done then give more of your own... get a second job and give that to those you want supported. Keep your "greedy" fingers out of the pockets of others and stop demanding they fund things that you want that they may not.

How in the world could you ever know for a "fact" what someone is thinking??????????????????? The truth is YOU don't know which is why it isn't a FACT of any sort.

The real fact is YOU really don't know any better

Standard Operating Procedure for the politics forum.

I probably pass 8 massive, mega churches on my daily errand runs, half of which are in perpetual expansion with contruction and add-ons. So, from my seats, yes...I wonder what % of tithes go to charity, and what % go to a pissing contest on who can build the biggest church on the block.

I suspect many a camel will pass through the eye of a needle come judgement day.

You "probably" should quit "wonder"ing and go in and actually find out and then repost your findings and not your assumptions so you wont have to "suspect" things from your car"seats".

6 Churches, 4 curerntly undergoing construction.

Have no idea on the real %.

Do me a favor and pray to God, imaginary people don't talk to me. Would be interested to hear what his coded camel and needle messages really mean.

Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and try it for yourself, and don't assume to know all the answers without some research for yourself. Open a Bible or a church door before you condemn something you seem to know little about and get back too me with what you have found.

I have some passing knowledge of the bible and church. Read the Bible from cover to cover, studied seminary, and attended church every Sunday from childhood through college.

Assuming I know nothing because I don't agree with you silly...and the arrogance of the bolded statement is stunning.

You claimed that you "pass" these churches in your "seat" on your drive by so you yourself claimed to know little about them. If you have been in a church then you should know that many good things and many good folks are there amongst those that choose to abuse its resources and you shouldnt just generalize and minimize the efforts that doo good and lump it in with the bad.

I also noticed that you were going to church as a child, at your parents request i assume, and lost your faith in college, why?

I started to objectively think about it, and what a total load of BS it mostly is. Believing in a generic omnipotent creator is one thing, saying he sent his son...to live as a carpenter in first century Palestine no doubt...is completely another. And taken for what it is, the Bible has some good life lessons, and even has some beautiful writing, I would even say Jesus had much to say about social justice and equality...but saying it is divine and has supernatural origins, and Jesus walked on water and the like, is utter nonsense.

Many people in hell who "knew" the Bible inside and out.

Jesus had many arguements with the "preachers" of his time.

Knowing the Bible means nothing.

Feeling and living in the grace of God means everything.

I was addressing the point that I was ignorant on about not knowing what I was talking about. I am well versed in the nuances of theological principles, and grew up "living in the grace of God". The fact that you can't understand how somebody who feels exactly the way you do right now decided it was a bunch of crap doesn't mean it isn't possible.

Well, maybe because they say so.

What is the immediate response when someone proposes to cut or reform one of the left's sacred cows? The response isn't in rational terms... but moral and emotional terms.

The left most certainly uses a moral justification for social welfare programs. AND they most certainly condemn in moral terms anyone who disagrees with them.

No... statistically, it is quite possible... and shameful for the "church".

But you shouldn't generalize as though all liberals are thinking the same thing.

I would bet anything you truly believe conservatives are more patriotic than liberals

I would say that it is easier to be patriotic if you believe in the ideals espoused by the country you are being patriotic about. I guess the fundamental question would be "who is willing to sacrifice"... and then determine what ideals they hold.

Please tell me what argument for social spending does not involve a moral determination. Please show me a liberal who does not think they are more benevolent and "just" than those who disagree with redistribution.

I guess I shouldn't have suggested everyone who supports these programs actually thinks it through... that may be a fair criticism. There are way too many people across the board who fail to reason things out for themselves but instead just believe what they're told or go off subjective feelings alone.

Patriotism is just brainwashing. Not much difference between nationalism. Therefore, NAZI's.

Lol. Right?

To me, patriotism is about wanting to support and improve the state. Blind patriotism, on the other hand, scares the crap out of me.

It's all about who has the bigger flag on their t-shirt. I'm patriotic during the Olympic games, but even then sometimes I'll root for other countries. I'm a global citizen.
