Lindsey Nelson Stadium,

It will be similar to the TN fans folks that sat near me last night at the Bama game who never clapped or cheered the entire game. They were there to drink and be seen. I’m afraid the LNS “hornet‘s nest” might turn into a corporate “wine and cheese“ crowd.
This will be a shame.

I think the University could have put the students in the sections between home and first and still had high demand from donors for the remaining seats while maintaining the electric atmosphere at LNS.

Having attended all home football games (save one) as a student, and having gone to almost every baseball game during my years there, it has inspired a lifetime of loyalty to the Vols programs.

Once we price students out, or drop them in favor of a dollar, will they have the same loyalty when they are the ones with the money? I don't know that the University is not sacrificing some of the future for the present. But, that is the way of business today.....

All student sections should be beyond RF wall.

They could have more "liberty" out there. Could even charge them less in concessions and beer.
I would make it a SRO section as well.. Three tiers of bar rails similar to the social deck at Neyland.
they could have own restrooms, concessions, gates, prices, etc. Could really pack them in there as well.
And the rest of the stadium would hear every yell.

Neither our freshman nor his three roommates have gotten a student ticket to any games yet, and it’s common place according to the various parent Facebook pages.

It was annoying for the all important Kent State game they sold lots of tickets to high school bands, but enrolled UT students couldn’t get tickets.
Most freshman don’t get tickets because they don’t have the points that upperclassman do. It always has and always will be favored towards upperclassman because they have less time left at the school

I’d like it to be 2 or 3 tiers similar to the left field deck, but instead of going back just go straight vertical on top of eachother

Under the current point system that’s the case.

Selling tickets to outside groups before letting current students have access isn’t acceptable, IMO.

The issue is UT would rather sell extra seats to 3rd parties than allotting to more students.

From my understanding the current allotment is 12k, sometimes more if the visiting team doesn’t sell all their tickets, that happened in 2021 ole miss. Danny white has talked about increasing ticket allotment but that woul likely require a relocation of the student section to the entire south end zone

At the risk of poking a hornets nest, Danny could quit selling football ticket blocks to ticket brokers if he wanted to... (although I realize what gets sold isn't in the exact student section).

Basilio is the only one I've heard mention it locally, but he's telling the truth about it...

Why are UT fans so passionate when it comes to the Vols? While we are selling out Lindsey Nelson, a massive Neyland. Other places are struggling? There is something special in Knoxville.
The best, most passionate fan base in America. Of course, every fan base has their morons/outliers. Bless. Their. Hearts. 🍊👍👊😀😃👍🍊🍊

Go on espn and look at average ticket prices. UT vs UK is $230. every other game, including TAMU vs LSU is $150 or far far less.

Some are going to say this is stupid but I have a legitimate question. Why are people willing to pay crazy prices for football, but not the same prices for a baseball game? Same school, top 3 sport, and last about the same time. I don't get people who pay a price for a football game or season tickets but then complain about the same price for baseball. BTW, baseball is more successful than football over the past few years.

Probably because people equate prices to the pros and what they expect around the league. MLB tickets are really cheap, other schools in our conference are as well. So people expect that here too

A lot has to do with the number of times per year one can catch a Vol baseball game vs football.

There's only 7 opportunities to view the Vols live in Neyland Stadium this year.

We've been starved for so long.

Football is stringing together good/great seasons for the first time since the early 2000s. Baseball has strung together good/great seasons for the first time since the mid-90s and just delivered its first national title.

First, shhhh🤫. Baseball remains far more affordable than football. Baseball‘s popularity is making it less affordable, however. It’s a trade-off; not many people want to go see a bad team play, so prices are lower then. It’s been a while since I coached, but when I coached young kids, I would get called twice a season by UT trying to get me to bring the team to the ballpark. Those phone calls are no longer made. I’ve never figured out how to convert the format to post it on Volnation, but I came across a couple of really old emails where either Dave Serrano or Todd Raleigh would send me an autographed baseball as soon as I renewed my tickets. The other email offered some really nice perk (I don’t remember it presently, however) for renewal as well.

Second, for football, a new school year has just begun and large athletic events are ‘new’ again. By the time baseball has rolled around, many other sports are done or are a good bit of the way through their season. The newness doesn’t exist.

Third, as @txbo points out, there are only seven home football games a year. You only get to play your arrival at home every other year, if that because of the large size SEC. That is generally true for baseball in terms of rotating playing at home and away, but at least you play a three game series with an SEC rival.

Can't help you. I forego football tickets to have more money to fund baseball. I just think baseball is a more enjoyable experience. But I'm also glad the per-game ticket price isn't as much as the per-game football price, or I would be broke.

Remember the time they had players hand-deliver the season tickets? Guess we're not going to get that again any time soon. 😏

This. Is. It. If there were only 7 home baseball games, they would be much more expensive than football. Plus the fact that baseball only has capacity for ~6500 seats vs 102,000 for football. My daughter and I prefer baseball over football. I would have never said that 5 years ago. GBO!

And the basketball programs have been a consistent participant in March Madness.
