LIO Talks Rasslin

Actually, that was "Dr. D" David Shultz that smacked John Stossel. Supposedly his ear is still ringing.

No Georgie. It was Hulk Hogan. I saw it.

Dr D. may have been the legitimately baddest man in the history of wrestling. He was an actual professional bounty hunter. Hogan wouldn't get in the ring with him for fear Doc would go "shoot" and cripple him.

Some of my favorite quotes:

"Just when you think you know the answers I change the questions."--Roddy Piper

"Nature Boy, what's that? Do you run around the forest like Euell Gibbons, eating bark or something?" -- Roddy Piper

"I'm the reason Hulk Hogan lost his hair!". --Roddy Piper

"I have come here to kick ass and chew bubble gum... and I'm all out of bubble gum." --Roddy Piper

Finally a real rasslin discussion. Can't believe nobody has mentioned Ernie Ladd, Tito Santana or JYD. Nothing was hotter than Tommy Rich and Wahoo McDaniel. When McDaniel got those chops working it was all she wrote. That was back when the Nature Boy still owned Space Mountain.

Has any one ever noticed the "growth" on Ric Flair's back?

Oh well, here is a pic of Flair when he was in shape.....

Not the "GREATEST" but my favorite Tag Deam was Ax and Smash of Demolition.

I think "Earthquake" sat on Jake's snake once too.

Favorite Manager was Jim Cornett

Favorite Announcer was Bobby Heenan.

Favorite Valet was Miss Elizabeth.

I liked the Horsemen OK and DX is funny, but the Original Version of NwO changed wrestling histroy forever and was a force.

They certainly did. Allowing that bunch of losers and intellectual invalids to run the booking process resulted in the demise of WCW. Hall and Nash were worthwhile performers, the rest of the NwO were dreck.

The "growth" is a calcium deposit left over from injuries sustained in a plane crash in the early '70s.

Gordon Solie announcing

IMO Gordon Solie is still the best ever. He was as serious as a network news anchor on the air.

I loved it when Gordon would describe things in physiological detail befitting a med school professor.

And a guy getting blindsided during an interview was not a fight, it was an "Unscheduled brawl".

I always wanted to go to the "Pier Six" that Gordon always referenced. There must have been a whole bunch of brawls at that place.

One thing that really stands out in my mind was how illiterate some of the wrestlers were - especially Beautiful Bobby Eaton. Even as a kid, his grammar made me cringe. I didn't like him as a wrestler either.

I don't know where it is either, but apparently a lot of people there get hit with a "blow to the solarplexes".

Bobby Eaton let his right hand do his talking. He was a true mat technician.

Just started laughing out loud in my office. That was hilarious.
