LIO Talks Rasslin

Nature Boy didn't deserve to carry Tojo's shoes.
LIO, with all due respect, you've never been more wrong. There's a reason Ric Flair was selling out football stadiums while Tojo was wrestling at county fairs.

And that reason was nothing more than sex appeal. Sexy sells and Tojo Yamamoto, may he rest in peace, was not sexy.

Did you know he committed suicide?

I remember reading that. Tojo was a great heel. He was kind of boxed out of the national promotions because Mr. Fuji and Hiro Matsuta were plying their trades with the same gimmick in the WWF and WCW.

He would have never been as exploited as he was in today's politically correct world. It's kinda sad, really.

Guys like Fuji, Hiro, and Tojo weren't exploited. They were doing the exploiting. They made good livings playing on the ignorance inherent in jingoism and racism.

Well that IS one way to look at it, I guess.

1. Ric Flair-should really be number one every list
2. Amewican Dweam- fat and fabulous, unbelievable interviews
3. Macho Man- a character for the ages
4. Roddy Piper- always seemed a little smarter than everyone else
5. JYD- simply a childhood favorite

I grew up in West TN watching Memphis wrasslin'. The Lawler/Dundee "mustard match" was epic.

One of my favorites from that era was Handsome Jimmy Valiant. <kissing bicep> Wooo, mercy daddy.

In high school, I was a big "Road Warriors" fan.

I could not help but think of Dusty Rhodes announcing for WCW claiming that every one was in "The Best Shape of His Life" Tony Schiavone.

Tony Schiavone, Larry Zybysko is in the best shape of his life!

Larry Z was very underrated. He wasted the best years of his career in the AWA.

I'll probably get shot or beaten by LIO for venturing into this direction but does anyone remember G.L.O.W.?

Babe, I don't even know what G.L.O.W. is, so remembering it won't get you in any trouble. Not that it would if I DID know what it was.

If I admitted that I knew what that was, it might prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that I had no life in the late 80s.

The "growth" is a calcium deposit left over from injuries sustained in a plane crash in the early '70s.

And here I always thought it was because he did back flips against the ropes.................

For shame......... :post-20645-1119625378:

Only for 1 hour of Saturday night TV....you could have a life all other hours of the day and week.

How could I forget to mention the Macho Man? :blush2:

Was/Is Flair the only guy out there with a signature "I am getting my butt kicked" move?

Arn Anderson had the "I'm on my knees begging not to be hit again." Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater both used the "I'm so punch drunk I'm going to fall on my fat a$$."
