There's a lot of butt-hurt towards Pearl, here. I particularly enjoy how the entire anti-Pearl agenda people refuse to give credit to Pearl for developing his players while also discrediting his recruitment of 3 of our best players, currently (Maymon, Golden and McRae).

Just because Martin's the coach doesn't mean we have to hate Pearl.

Nobody hates pearl we just see that he's not coming back and the people who swear that he is don't give Martin a chance. I loved Pearl as a coach I think if he would have handled the situation better no telling where this program would be. He's not here and Martin is good coach who loves Tennessee and is doing a good job in his second year.

You say that as if that happened...

My comment doesn't stem from anybody's opinion that Martin can't nor won't get it done. It's rather independent upon Martin. However, people like the guy who posted immediately after you are just as immature and blind as the people who won't give Martin a chance.

Homie, is you serious?

Nice arguing against something that isn't happening.

One of the first rules of the "university of Martin @ Knoxville" club is that you hate Pearl and blame every loss on him.

Yes no one on this board seems to want to give Pearl any credit for development of his players nor do they want to give him credit for his coaching abilities and almost unprecedented success at UT. Pearl took a rag-tag bunch of ho-hum athletes who were a sub .500 ball club (29 & 31) to a 22 & 8 season taking 1st place in the East (NCAA Tourney birth) (and followed that with a 24 & 11 season.... and so on).

So many on here want to talk about CCM's player development specifically with Golden, Maymon, and McRae - well Pearl recruited those guys.

Maymon was a 4 star player in espn's top-100 (79th);
Golden was also a 4 star recruit;and
McRae was also a 4 star recuit in espn's top-100 (38th).

All three of these ballers were going to be good players - I would say notwithstanding who coached them. They were obviously talented athletes. Now I will give CCM credit for bringing this talent out (or developing it) and I think he has a done a pretty good job on this winning streak. If you (or I) are going to give CCM credit for his player development, you have to also give credit to CBP for those same skills.

Everyone must also consider how utterly atrocious the Vols have looked at times this year but I guess many on here would say that wasn't "coaching". I have never said that Zo should have been fired this season; It was almost a given that he would get a third year at UT. The Vols need to win out and hopefully they will get into the big dance. I am hoping that they do win out and perform well in the SEC and NCAA tourneys.

Good
.

This might be a bit homerish but right now i'd give the edge to Cal over Donovan. Many people won't agree with me but i think recruiting is just as much apart if coaching as the X's and O's. Purely my opinion. I think Cal's 8-2 over donovan i believe.

Tennessee always seems to get the better of Florida for some reason despite the coach. It's like Arkansas sucking on the road all the time. Something that just can't be explained.

CCM has proven to be a great coach. I was suspect early on but UT has really peaked at the right time. Hopefully next year it won't take so long. Anybody think Stokes will declare after this season?

I can only speak for myself, and I have only been posting for around a month. But if I would have know about this forum while Pearl was here I would be here singing his praises. And you know why??? Cause he WAS our coach. I loved Bruce Pearl, and still do. I hope the man get another job as soon as he is eligible.

But it sounds like you have a problem with us backing our current coach. And not wishing, like you seem to be that BP was our coach again.

Please explain exactly how CCM has proven to be a "great coach".

Pearl is no longer the coach of Vols (and never will be again). My post implied nothing about him coming back to Tennessee - it simply puts forth the argument that perhaps both coaches deserve some amount of credit for developing their players.

Now it is true that I do not think that CCM has done much of anything to solidify his reputation as a great or even good head basketball coach. His only claim to that would be winning the CIT tourney.

If however the Vols win out and make the big dance I would have to say that CCM did a heck of a coaching job this year even if they got bounced in the first round. In fact I said that very thing months ago when it was presumed that Maymon would miss the entire season. You can check with BTO on that last part.

Above average coach then. I might of over exaggerated. He's beatin the big names in the SEC which can't be over looked. That's better than most of the coaches in the sec. This is his 2nd year after all.

Are you aware that the only person's name on here that said CCM was a GREAT basketball coach was Jimmy Dykes?
