Looking at the SEC picture right now

Assuming we lose Saturday and win out, looking at ours and Bama's schedule, they have a more impressive resume. They beat Georgia, they beat LSU on the road, they beat South Carolina, they beat Wisconsin on the road, they beat Mizzou. I'm sorry but they have a more impressive resume than we do.
Except for that that pesky little detail of the head to head matchup and a “road” loss at Vandy.

That Arkansas loss sucks even more. If we had won that game like we should have we'd be the lone undefeated team in the SEC right now and could afford to lose to Georgia next week. As it stands, next week is pretty much must win. It's looking less and less likely that we'd get into the playoff with 2 losses.
I like our chances against UGA.

Is Bama's Vandy loss this year really THAT much worse than our Arky loss? Don't look at program history, just look at this season and their records.

Yes we won the head to head. I hope the CFPC weighs that heavily but I have a feeling they wont.

If the SEC only gets four teams in the playoffs I am not sure we make it with 2 losses.
I agree. You know a 10-2 Bama team will get the nod b/c of …it’s Bama. OM resume prob better. What if we beat UGA and lose to Vandy and Texas beats TaM. Or let’s just go win out

Well one thing everyone is forgetting is the SEC championship game. One of these 2 loss teams will have 3 after that one, unless A&M beats Texas at the end of the year.. Texas could lose that game and further muddle it up.. If it comes down to a beauty contest we're not winning it. I figured we'd have a log jam of 2 loss teams and that's exactly where it's headed.

Florida Alabama and Georgia are always must wins @ Tennessee. At least since the league split back in 92.

For recruiting purposes and our general respect as a program, we never could have afforded a loss to UGA. We are trying to ascend to the top of this League. Not sneak around the side door.

We are fighting to win the SEC first, then whatever comes next. There is a step by step process to this.

Nobody anywhere ever of significance stated that two losses would guarantee a playoff spot.

We were never likely to back slide into the playoffs without being one of the very best teams in this league.

If you can't beat UGA face to face you don't even need to be trying to sneak into the playoff where it is a great chance we'd have to beat them there.

To be the man you gotta beat the man. Or at least not run from him when you see him.

Sack up people. Damn!
This. The SEC is ours for the taking.
Go take it.

Tennessee and tx could enter that thing with one loss. Of course I only care about one of those.

Ole Piss thinks they will😂😂

Let’s not forget whoever loses the SEC championship game will have another loss as well. Not sure how all of this is going to play out but we need to beat Georgia so we don’t have to hope for things to go our way

The Georgia game is our entrance exam into the playoff. Win and still in or lose and you're out. Of course, still must beat Vandy which is not a given. Team needs to play loose and aggressive instead of this "pucker-up, hope we can hold on crap" they've been using.

Winning on the road in the sec isn’t easy…you can say arky is a bad loss but also that we were lucky to beat Florida and bama scoring 0 first half points in both games. I’m just glad to be 8-1 and playing meaningful games this late in the season.
We haven't played on the road in 5 weeks , including the bye week. I hope the Vols can come out sharp in Athens, eliminate the stupid penalties, and take their crowd out of it. Play like they are capable.

Ok well Georgia has two losses and they didn’t look good today. Our D is just as good or better than Ole Miss so I don’t think next week is insurmountable.
Beck is ass. Straight stinky ass. Key in the run game, pressure Beck, and turnovers ensure. Tennessee can win.

What concerns me is the SEC/Refs will let the Dawgs get away with murder. We will have 4 times the flags they will. The SEC will protect GA at all costs because they feel GA is the SEC's best chance to win a Natty. I have no doubt when we bust a big play on offense, there will be a hold flag thrown on an O-lineman.

Especially with UGA losing yesterday. So a loss to them would seal our fate unfortunately

I have a feeling we would burn down the JW Marriott in Grapevine, TX, if they didn’t take our head 2 head win into consideration. They would be setting a ridiculous precedent .

In the event of a tie between teams competing for a place in the Conference championship game, the following procedures will be used in descending order until the tie is broken:
  1. Head-to-head competition among the tied teams
  2. Record versus all common Conference opponents among the tied teams
  3. Record against highest (best) placed common Conference opponent in the Conference standings, and proceeding through the Conference standings among the tied teams
  4. Cumulative Conference winning percentage of all Conference opponents among the tied teams
  5. Capped relative total scoring margin versus all Conference opponents among the tied teams
  6. Random draw of the tied teams

If by chance this ends up with the following teams with 6-2 records (Tennessee, A&M, UGA, Ole Miss, Bama, Missouri, and LSU) then based on 2, A&M would be 2-0 against the "tied" teams" and Bama would be 3-1. #2 becomes a component of who you have played, and Tennessee will have played only 2 of those teams which actually hurts their chances in the tie breaker. It benefits Bama and UGA who will have played 4 of those teams.

It doesn't really make a difference if it is Texas or A&M, Bama will have 3 wins - the best any of the other can do is 2 wins.
