Looking back, should not have fired Phil

If Fulmer was competing in today's SEC, I doubt he would have won 75% of his games

There is no coincidence that when the SEC got tougher, he faltered.

I'm glad he was able to accomplish what he did, but his only competition was Florida and we see how he did against them.

Alabama was on probation and went through some terrible hires before getting Saban

Vandy was Vandy
Kentucky was Kentucky
South Carolina was terrible
Georgia had Goff

there's no need for doubt, his record is what it is

Looking back, Tee should have faked the toss to Jamal and rolled out the other way on 4th & 3 v UF.

Looking back he should have hired someone instead of Sanders and Jamal and Henry would have carried the ball 47 x that night instead of lining up in the shot gun and letting Martin throw it 47x against what would be on of the worst rushing defenses in the conference that yr.

I would be awesome in the Special Olympics too

Do you think those schools that got it together place asterisks by wins over us now that we're ****ty? I don't understand so called Tennessee fans denigrating our history. You never see Bama fans say we've beaten Tennessee since the 2007 but they've been down so it doesn't count.

Phil had to go. Cut was not the answer here at head coach. Hiring Dooley is what really tanked us. We bring in a loser with no credibility and lost Kiffin's best players. We had a winning record and good recruiting classes. With a better coach we keep Bryce Brown and Aaron Douglass plus Bray develops way better. We still had a chance to repair things but Dooley nuked it all.

Maybe the best post of the month! Lets not forget thast when Jalen Hurd and his High school coach came up for Jr day in 2012, Dooley didn't even speak to either one of them, and that was intentional. I could go on and on

How many championships did his teams win after the national title in '98?

He won three sec east championships and lost two against the best teams in the nation. He was upset in the other the week after defeating Florida in one of the biggest road upsets in vol history. Turnovers killed us that night against lsu.

Agree that Fulmer should not have been fired.. he at the very least deserved another year to turn it around.

But oh well.. we got butch now and I am happy about that. At least butch is smart enough to keep Fulmer around the program.

Looking back, Tennessee should have never hired Mike Hamilton as AD.

Now, can we please stop the peeing and moaning about the past? It's dead and gone. Looking forward is much more fun.

Wrong, the answer is 0. There is no such thing as an SEC east championship.

It was time for him to go..but Hamilton did not handle it correctly...Coach Fulmer should have been allowed to finish the season and allow him to go out in style...instead of disgraced like he did...He did alot for the VOLS....

He DID finish the season. Get your facts straight.

Bottom line looking back, is that whether or not Coach Fulmer deserved more time, Hamiltons choices and scheduling and Cheeks changing of admission standards , which no other team in the conference hold to, as well as Cheeks refusal to allow academic exceptions in admissions,(which ALL other SEC schools, and even Stanford DO) set Tennessee on a disaster course to hell. Those standards kept top coaches from taking the job and Hamilton was not prepared to deal with finding a coach.
