I also think no matter how much some of you love you some Walz if he does not have Candace, Kara, Tamika, and all of the other legendary players in his corner he has to sell the LV on his name and record. On the other hand if Kellie Jame has these same players in her corner helping to sell the brand she can recruit at a very high level with the right recruiting coordinator on her staff. Walz is good but he is not good enough to be better than Kellie Jane if she has the sway of a Kara Candace and Tamika in her corner...... Also remember Fulmer would not pull the plug on HW without the advice and approval of these LV athletes nor would he offer without their support and being on board

Lot of “if’s” in your post. That includes IF you really know what Fulmer would or would not do.

I don’t think we should get fired up about Kellie one way or the other just yet. PF is going to take his time and do this right. Kellie will be among 5-7 first round candidates. Her interview will be neither obligatory or a slam dunk. Some of the other potential candidates are still playing.
Kellie will have to discuss what went on at NC State. What did she learn. What would she do differently.
How does her offensive philosophy fit with our current personnel.
What is her recruiting process. How will she re-recruit our players and commits. Who among her staff would she bring.
Not easy questions. Barnes might sit in on some of this. There is no BSing him. Same with Connan.
Cut the group to 2-3. Second/third round interviews. This is a million dollar hire. It will be rigorous and not rushed. It will not be about what Pat’s favorite color was.
I feel good about the process.
Lastly Walz could easily be playing for a raise. The total $ od raises obtained by “candidates” for the UT football HC wa pretty impressive.

Louisville’s got a hot mess going financially. He ain’t getting a raise and I believe he knows that. If he stays, it’s because he loves what he’s built there...which is highly possible.

It will be so incredibly fitting if we aim low and hire a coach like Harper. We’ve got a program that could, with the right hire, ascend very quickly back to the top of the sport, and I already see people rationalizing why it’s safer to make a legacy hire. This is the Tennessee mentality in a nutshell.

We deserve all of the misery coming our way if this actually happens.

Very true and Pat was very influential in helping that come about :) I agree she was a total exception and although she is prolly steaming her LV are in this state she was always for the growth of the game and the game is growing

Do we know know that Walz is a no-go? Latest word is he's on the ski lift and says not contacted? Some posters today seemed to say with certainty he's not under consideration, right?

IMO, the Walz tease has made it way, way harder for Kellie or whoever comes next. If its not a star hire, it's going to seem like settling in a way. The one way to pretty much guarantee a fast track back to the elite is to hire an elite coach. A lower tier coach, Kellie included, will be seen as a gamble.

I can't imagine Kellie being a bad coach on a Holly level of bad. She may even end up being a very good coach, or anything in between. Of course her LV ties will give her a jump on acceptance and interest. Ironically, they could also work against her with fans disappointed we didn't snag Walz and who feel Kellie's family ties won the day.

There's an LV power struggle among the fanbase; maybe the selection committee has the same divide. The hardcore LV traditionalists see themselves as guardians of Pat's Absolute Legacy insist the next coach be female and have ties to the Pat tree. Believe CHW is a martyr to the cause. The rest, probably by far the majority, say swing for the fences and get the best possible hire, preferably a star. Believe the best way to honor Pat is to be champions again.

Problem is how damn expensive the star hire is, so I'm not real optimistic. PF is about to let us know exactly how important the LVs are to current UTAD once and for all, should be interesting.

Though I'd prefer GG, I'd definitely support Kellie and wish her the best, hell wish us all some damn good times for a change. I actually like the wife/hubby coaching team and think its a great example for kids, both sexes. She's head, he's assistant and they're both fine with it. I think its way cool.

Jeff Walz has only been on vacation for one day. No way he’s already made contact with Fulmer. I am not buying this. 😆

I wouldn't really be that excited for Goestenkors but she would be a much better hire than Kellie Jolly Harper.

Is this going to turn into the nega Vols? I’m better than you because I’m right and you are wrong. We only gave up our season tickets three years ago. If Walz or Gail are hired I’ll be reupping day one. If we go Holly 2.0 then I’ll give it a year to see. But don’t underestimate who you are talking about. Just because I see a different way doesn’t mean my money and love for the Lady Vols is any different from you. Why would I put so much effort, passion, and time into something if I didn’t care deeply about it? I’ve always respected you because you never got into the emotional and name calling and usually had accurate info. Just because you have some insider info does not mean that you are more important than anyone else. I cannot believe you said that.

You know, Kellie may know enough about the expectations of the fan base and that she will STILL be following with Pat's legacy hanging over her head to say, "I would love the opportunity, but not know"...
