Looks Like The 'AA Has Declared Open Season On Phonies.

So, you don't really know? Is this because you already have a "preconceived notion?"
No, it's because I know which of the guys off those teams did and didn't get a degree. I simply don't throw out guesses at numbers. Off the top of my head, I'd say the last five years looks something like 11 out of 15. Throw in Andy's interim year and I think it goes to 14 out of 19.

Why did Andy have an interim year?

Zimpher thought she was going to turn UC into some kind of academic powehouse. She felt the attention basketball received hindered that goal. She and Huggs also viscerally hated each other.

Ohh. Thanks for the insight.

Ah c'mon. I do NOT like Florida lol

Billy D is a likeable coach when you take the orange shades off. The guy coached Florida to two titles, hurt Kentucky's feelings when he turned them down (10 points there!) and just how he responded to his teams in the last couple of years when they were underachieving. He's a great coach IMO but I'd still love to see him buried by the NCAA haha

Two titles for florida makes me hate him worse, I'll agree with him hurting kentucky's feelings but that's negated by that THICK NY accent. :p

Huggins is an excellent coach. Don't really understand any discussion about how he would not be good for UT. The Pearl supporters have no basis for not wanting Huggs. Although he may have some issues in his past, they don't reach the level of Pearls. Anyway, he would win and fill seats. That's all that matters anyway. Right??

The main reason he shouldn't be considered a coaching option at UT is the fact the only way he leaves WV is in a body bag.

Taking back the academic integrity of a school from the sports crazed culture at all costs, just like Gordon Gee is doing at OSU. Oh, wait..

"I have zero tolerance for those who do not live by the rules of the university or by the rules of the organizing body," Gee said in an interview Friday. "It's very important for us to set a very high standard for ourselves."-Gordon Gee-2007

It's a shame. He expressed interest in the job and we turned him away because of his "ethical issues," and we end up hiring a lesser coach who is more unethical.

Sounds like a bunch of guys that just want all coaches destroyed if they are not as pure as Jesus. Maybe there is some morose humor in this thread and a lot of us just don't get it. Humor too dark for ordinary humans. Humor that sets the NegaVols apart. Or did all of you get cut from the JV team and decide to hate coaches from there on.

...huh?

Huggins had a DUI in 2004, which is a while back at this point, but it wasn't back then (don't really know the details, but it's there). In that sense, it's not that close of a comparison.

At this point, I'd love to have him, but it wasn't any guarantee at the time.

The best part about it was that Zimpher kept talking about how much she wanted to change the "culture" around UC basketball, then hired a guy who had been one of Huggs' lead assistants to take his place full time. Replacing Bob Huggins with Mick Cronin is akin to terminating Bruce Pearl and hiring Jason Shay.

The NCAA seems to be very hypocritical regarding the Baylor situation. From all reports available, the Baylor player was banned for two loans his parents took totaling just over 4K.

Both loans were repayed, and the player was apparently never aware of the loans.

How is this any different than the Cam Newton situation?

Seems a bit harsh.

Agreed. I like OSU, but it will be a joke if Tressel and OSU just gets away with this while Tennessee and Pearl have gotten slammed for this.

I can agree with that. Since I have lived here in Lex I have seen that fans act like he is a paragon of virtue, but I don't see Cal as a phony who tries to foster that image. Not saying he is squeaky clean because I don't believe he is. However, he doesn't act like a beacon of integrity such as Tressel nor has he been flaunting his "do it the right way" principles like Pearl has when he discussed the Deon Thomas affair, almost like he was a martyr that was willing to sacrifice career for the sake of what was right. I do have more respect for him in some ways since I moved here, not a fan by any means but I do respect him more than our bball coach. Can't wait to get hammered for that comment

Have you ever watched FSS program called " In their own words ". They have been featuring Cal quiet a bit lately. Sounds like a paragon of virtue to me. lmao
