my mistake... thread.... nonetheless, your initial statement was surprisingly wrong from somebody that didn't read the whole THREAD

I can tell reading isn't your strong suit. Where are you getting that all of California is boycotting Arizona? So far it is LA, San Diego, and Hollywood, and I'm sure the first time they have a blackout from not getting electricity the boycott would be lifted.
on top of that.... if there was a blackout due to the boycotts, i'm sure there would be a lawsuit due to a contract the two areas obviously have with electricity.

"We're not using your electricity, but we'll sue you for not using it."

if arizona stopped providing electricity on the basis of the boycott to California, you better believe a lawsuit would ensue. there is a contract, i promise.

i have no idea what's in the contract. it would get ugly, though, with lawyers on both sides trying to pick the contract apart.

So, with your scenerio, California boycotts doing business with Arizona. Arizona says "okay" what about our contract? California says

And somehow, illegal immigrants win...

It's best not to try to follow his logic...

liberals like cash don't care what the bill actually says

I know, when they can lie and mislead the public and mainly minorities about what is actually in the bills then they can look like heros to them. Sad thing is I bet they always know what these bills have in them but they use them as tools to spread fear.

What gives the city council the right to mandate trade with otherstates? I do believe that violates the interstate commerce act in the constitution, am i right?

I heard that Mexican officials advised that they were also boycotting and planned on advising their citizens to not vacation in Arizona.

No! They can do business with who they like

The 10th Amendment states that the Federal Government cannot regulate intrastate trade, but can regulate interstate trade.

This would not violate the 10th Amendment.

However, it is a weak ass move by L.A.

yah but it also says that a state cannot tax trade with another state, as in if i cross from GA to TN i do not have to pay to go in or whatever, and GA cannot tell me that I cannot go to TN,

the 10th ammendment says that any powers not given to the fed are delegated to the states,

Arizona's enactment of that law was largely symbolic. The move by LA's governing body similarly so.

Arizona's law probably won't have a really significant impact on illegal immigration. LA's move probably won't have a huge impact on business transactions.

This morning, heard comment repeated on television, seemed accurate to me: There will be no concerted effort by the federal government to curb illegal immigration because the Democrats see them as potential future votes and the Republicans see them as cheap labor.

i very much doubt pointless measures being approved by the LA city council will effect who LADWP buys their power from (they don't have the authority) and i also very much doubt that they are bothering to transport arizona power to los angeles.

Arizona simply provided means for their own police forces to enforce the existing federal laws. Whether they will do it effectively or try very hard is a different matter altogether. All of the carping about profiling and such is absurd.

What will happen is that there will be more illegal aliens nabbed in routine traffic stops, which is OK.

As to the Republicans and cheap labor, I think that is a fading viewpoint. Americans are moving back toward a willingness to take on crappy jobs to feed families. The idiotic extension of unemployment benefits didn't help, but it's happening.

Minimal. And temporary.

I agree, I think the reason Rs are not taking a stronger stance is because they know that the usual suspects will accuse them of racism.

Have you not listened to this administration making its excuses about this potentially becoming a permanent employment level? I know it's justifying their own godawful policies, but that's their prevailing POV.
