I should use this post as an example in my speech class about not to debate a topic. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said, "Error of opinion can be tolerated as long as reason is left free to combat it."
The problem is that there are a bunch of guys on the board who are so out of touch with what makes an argument reasonable. They think if they yell the loudest or belittle opposing views (focusing on details that really aren't that relevant) somehow they have won. But I digress. I suppose a VolNation forum isn't the place to discuss such petty things as logical fallacies.
BTW, where did hat go?
I'm interested in his choices for the HC position as well. Because apparently they need to have been to several BCS bowls, have had success (a relative term since going 17-20 (.459) is so much different than 21-13 (.618) - small sample size) in a significant conference (sorry Boise St.), surround himself with assistant coaches who are legends (how many of you can name more than two Alabama assistants w/o looking it up?), and, oh yeah, actually was available and wanted to come to Knoxville?
I believe he said keep Kippy as interim coach and make a real hire in next year.I'm interested in his choices for the HC position as well. By your logic, a guy who fails miserably at a low level of competition deserves a shot at a higher level because they haven't failed there yet. That's like elevating a retard governor to the presidency. Oh, wait. We did that. Look how well that turned out.
amenSure they can. I disagreed with many things Bush did. I was very, very disappointed that his domestic agenda- the opportunity society, was completely de-railed by Iraq. He certainly should have listened to the Israelis concerning WMD's in Iraq rather than a CIA where the Valerie Plames and Joe Wilsons of the world can not only survive but get promoted. He should have known better after Clinton spent the better part of 8 years politicizing the CIA with PC liberals.
OTOH, Bush was 100 times better than what we now have. Funny how the same folks who questioned Bush's "gravitas" didn't care that BO had never managed anything of significance and did not have the qualifications or temperment to be President. Still doesn't. Funny the same folks that blamed Bush for Katrina and virtually everything else that went wrong in the world are STILL giving BO a pass on terror attacks in the US, the response to the oil spill, the jobless recovery, the threat to the US AAA credit rating, etc, etc, etc.
If there had been 3 serious terrorist attacks on US soil, more bail out packages (remember the media and libs condemned Bush for them), gov't takeovers of private institutions, more stimulus spending, discussion of regulating political speech on the internet, released Homeland Security memos of "mainstream" liberal constituencies being hotbeds of potential terrorists, or the like under Bush or any other Republican... you can be sure of two things. Those issues would STILL be on the lips of the mainstream media and they would not rest until that President's popularity was well under 50%.
Word to the wise, don't believe everything you here from the media (who poll over 90% Dem) or professors impressed with their own elitism.
If you weren't going to make Brown, Chaney, or Thompson the temp and ride this season out, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be near as irate if Kevin Sumlin were coaching UT right now. The same applies for Al Golden, though not as enthusiastically. Probably wouldn't have lost any sleep if it had been Brady Hoke.I am still interested to hear who hatvol would have liked us to hire. With all the big names beating down to door to be the next coach of UT and with all that time we had before national signing day...who would you have hired?
You're right. I should start basing my conduct on a bunch of fables and fairy tales allegedly ordained by some mythical deity that nobody seems to be able to locate. I'll get right on that.
Since he'll be using that better talent, coaches, and resources against Florida and Alabama, I'm pretty sure the fact he was no better than the middle of the pack in an awful league tells me what I need to know.Nick Saban endorsed him too. Whatchoo got now?
You really don't have anything because there isn't anything to indicate what kind of coach Dooley will be with better talent, better coaches, better resources.

Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, Dennis Erickson, and Jackie Sherrill are having a good laugh at that one. Latter day Tom Osborne also finds it humorous. Some of you act like recruiting character guys is a bad thing. Sacrificing integrity for quick fixes is what the last staff did. It's not sustainable.
He couldn't compete on a level playing field in a dogshat conference. That makes him a dogshat coach. And what is it you need to know?
What you just posted doesn't suggest anything. Lane Kiffin brought a losing record as a head coach after having success with a big name coach too, but you supported that imbecile.
And don't give me that crap about the NFL being so different than Louisiana Tech. Dooley had worse talent compared to the teams he faced than Kiffin did vs. the teams he faced.
