Love this Dooley quote

7-6 and a azz kicking in the peach bowl speaks for itself. He did nothing spectacular here and he didn't stick around long enough to see if he could.
Who cares about the Peach Bowl? That was coaching staff's second priority, behind recruiting.

There have been plenty of coaches that have been payed well and it's not worked out, yet there are coaches who started out low and worked their way up with the success they endured. Just throwing money at something doesn't mean you can fix it.

Not many of the big dollar guys have squandered it and they've all stayed relevant. Fulmer would be a good example of getting underperformance.

Did any of you prefer Cutcliffe or Sumlin over Dooley? That seemed to be the only choice unless Kippy stayed as interim coach which might have been the best route.

Look, I'm not sure Dooley will work out or not but I'm willing to wait and see before judging him. I think that is different than waiting on Fulmer to "turn it around" because we knew what we had in Fulmer. I still don't believe we know what we're getting with Dooley based on his La Tech record.

Of course it can be. Every coach does it his own way.

So, why is it that people were so enamored with a coach that was dead set on not keeping UT the same, yet he goes 7-6, leaves like a hooker, and people still defend him?? If it can be done, why didn't he try?? I can answer that for you, it's because he's done NOTHING of any signifigance as a coach, outside of his assistant coaching success at USC. Even then, there are some people within the USC program that said Sark was the reason they were so good.

Prefer both the bold options.

Because he was going to win, and win big, like he'll do at USC.
If it can be done, why didn't he try??
Because he didn't care, obviously.

Kiffin was the Co-OC, called plays, and recruiting coordinator... I give him some credit.

None of which you brought to our attention last year.

This isn't about Kiffin. It's about UT and our latest hire.

So winning bowls doesn't translate into recruiting success?? I guess we should forfeit every bowl then if it's not a BCS one.
It would look bad if we did, obviously. However, if recruiting didn't suffer, I couldn't care less about about minor bowl games other than a few bragging rights.

Yet, we wouldn't be winning, we would be losing to possible trash teams. Winning is winning, right??

BTW, Sab, you were more right about Kiffin than I ever thought. Wish I wouldn't have just believed in winning at all costs to see it.
