LSU Game Rescheduled

I was sitting back reading some of these posts, all of them valid, just some expressing passion over thought process.
This had nothing to do with the "Saturday Night in Death Valley" tradition. If it did, LSU would never move a game for TV. This had everything to do with money. TV money for both the university and the confrence as a whole, of which UT benifits from.
I'll take the high road and not be insulting. I am not here to flame; only to be a good ambassador for LSU. I mean, afterall it was us bunch of Aholes that postponed our home opener. It was this same group of Aholes that elected to play its next "home opener" in AZ so that the campus could be used to provide much needed medical services to those in need. And what do those Aholes get? ten straight games in a row. AZ st. week off then 10 in a row. It was these same Aholes that were taking in homless people into their homes. Even Ahole players were putting up people in their apartments. That LSU AD is really looking like fools for trying to get a football game played in its home stadium spurring some badly needed economic growth, three weeks late, and that game being a bit of stress relief for those attending the game.

Of course none of this was going on in the decision making process. Quite the contrary. The only thing on anyone's mind was how to "screw" Vol fans. As a matter of fact, we have ben experimenting for years with the Defence Department on Weather warfare. Katrina was our preliminary experiment so that we could unleash this weapon in time to "screw" ten thousand TN fans. It is our little bit of revenge for TN and UF groups buying up huge blocks of SEC Championship Game tickets way early even before they know they are going. then pawning them off when they don't go.

Our next coup de tat will be ow to "screw" you up in Knoxville. Afterall, we are "Aholes" like that.

In all seriousness. Prayers to those taht will be affected by Rita, and may those of you that come down, be safe. Good luck and God speed.

Myself and many other Tennessee fans have sent prayers, money and many have opened their homes to Katrina victims from your state. Our school allowed students from LA to come to UT. Our team and coaches and atheletic Department has raised money for the victims as well. The LSU fans have called us everything you can think of and we still gave. All our AD and coaching staff has done is TRY to assist and make things better for LSU and UT. It is not like they asked to have this year and next year at Knoxville. So get off of your soapbox with our fanbase and talk to your own first! As far a BR being able to handle the game before Rita goes let me ask you this. Will there be any state troopers at the game? Would those state troopers not be better served being out helping in other parts of the state? Not only the troopers but the other resources that will be wasted on a darn football game. This whole thing is crazy. We should have done the swap. Period!

I also want to welcome the new LSU fans to the board. It is nice to have some people who can actually contribute to the discussion. Thats why i chose to remain an abstention to this discussion until now; I didnt have anything nice to say about either of the two teams on here. Yes, this storm has put a lot of people on edge. Yes, EVERY board has dumbasses on there. It is just my opinion, that if you are the visitor to the board, dont come with the sole purpose to stir up trouble. On the other hand, I also wasn't impressed with the retaliation of some of our board members. They did a great job of being patient with LSUfreak, but in the end, he accomplished his mission by getting under their skin.

I was just wondering why couldnt we play at a nuetral point such as the Liberty bowl in Memphis? I know it takes away the home field advantage...but at the same time, no advantage is given to either team..

It shouldnt matter reguardless; I want to see the game just as much as the next guy, but we shouldnt have to risk the safety of either team. It is no inconveince to me to sit and watch the game on Monday night....if in fact it is still on. If we are as good as we say we are, lets proove it! I think it will be a very god game full of emotion on both sides of the ball. But, it is time for us to back up our talk.

See yall in the endzone!

Because LSU wants to keep a home game....helps both LSU and BR...if this happened to UT and UT didnt get their first home game and their 2nd BIG home game could be postponed until Monday....we would do the exact same thing.

I know, I know....everyone is going to say UT wouldn't...yes, we would

The only thing I want to ask is "Why is Fulmer still crying?" Is he really so scared after losing to the Gators or doesn't he wanna play in the rain on Monday night? The game has been moved since he threatened to forfeit the game if played on Saturday night (understandable, not everyone wants to fly/drive into a hurricane), but he's still whining about having to play. What's the problem now? Is it the rain? I live here in TN, it rains here, I've been in it. My sister goes to UT, she said it rains there too, so that shouldn't be a problem. I just think Phil is so scared of playing like they have the first two games that he's doing whatever he can to put it off so they can get their s*&# together.

I would pay $200 for a ticket just to see it played in Knoxville, just so I could go and see LSU get their "home" game played with purple and gold checked endzones in Neyland Stadium. :birgits_giggle:

i must have missed out on something here because i've read and heard from a couple of different sources that fulmer is ready to play this game anytime, anywhere, and any place, as a matter of fact i remember him saying he would play L$U in a parking lot if he had too. so i do believe you have been misinformed on this situation because fulmer is anything but scared to play lsu, he just doesnt want to put his players in any kind of risk

Good post.

We still have about 45 evacuees in our local guard training center.

I've seen a few folks get hot under the collar here and swear to never help the Cajuns again.

It's one thing for us to poke fun at each other's gene pools, but it's another thing to turn our backs on needy human beings, even if they do eat crawdads and talk funny.

No message board ninny is going to stop me from doing my volunteer work.

There's no feeling quite so gratifying.

Indeed there is!

I see someone has been lurking on tigerforums.com :D

I've been lurking here on this forum for a week or so now but the discussions have been less than desirable for participation.

It is good to see that things are more civil now. Any of you wanting to talk football, get advice on travel to BR, etc etc, stop by www.tigerforums.com!

Welcome gradin99.

This is rare, but refreshing. An LSU poster whose first post isn't a flame.

We can use more of this between now and Monday evening.

Jump in.

Even before the hurricane, I wouldn't go to La to see a piss-ant eat a bail of hay, and especially to a town where the leading citzen is the "Reverend" Jimmy Swaggart.

As an individual who live just 800 yards from the "Swaggart compound", Rev, Jimmy is as revered here as Jessie Jackson at a clan meeting and among honest God-fearing citizens, he is taken about as seriously as Larry Storch would have been for his role on F-Troop. You might want to get to know some of "average folk" before you cast anymore stones. Might I suggest taking a breath befoer you next sip of Jones flavored cool-aid?

Firstly and foremost, you contributions are greatly appreciated and the amount of gratitude that those affected by Katrina have for all of those that gave and contine to give is overwhelming, whether you are a UT fan or a fan fom any college in the world.

My sentiments were not to get on a soapbox, but rather to shed some honest light on the situation and hopefully have those, so blined by "purple" or "orange" passion, take a deep breath and see the situation for what it is. Perhaps you didn't gather my underling meaning in the post. This game is all about money. Money needed at the LSU athletic department. Lousiana is one of only a handful of states that has a law on the books that states no tax dollars can be used for Athletics. All sports start out the physical year with $0 in their budget. Seed money to get the season started off comes from Athletic foundations and booster organizations. The vast majority of that money is tied up in facility inprovments that are underway right now. Football revenue is then sed money for all other women's and men's sports. Budgeting is done way in advance of the football season begining so that other sports that have travel and equipment expences can get underway. Can you imagine the gender based lawsuits over a women's team season getting a late start because of the football team taking priority?

The first home game was postponed to the only midseason open date on schedule. Result: No income. The second home game was played in AZ. The athletic department did have the funds to send the team to AZ, so the Fiesta Bowl picked up the tab. Result: No Income. In an effort to get some revenue flowing in, LSU rightly fought to have the game played on Saturday or Sunday, as to not strain the resources of the University itself. After negotiations with TN, the SEC, and LSU, the commish determined that in the best intrest of the confrence ti should be played on Monday ngiht. TV revenue affect LSU, TN and every other SEC school. Decisions made were in teh best interest of the confrence as a whole. traveling to Knoxville or Memphis would be an additional strain on the confrence. Remember, there is still No money in the atletic budget to travel. That is why the commish did what he did, so that the confrence wouldn't have to pick up the tab for LSU to travel. Combine that with the fact that tis will give a foundation of funds for LSU's athletic department to travel to MS State in a short week, the game really needed to be played in Baton Rouge.

As I mention in an earlier post. I am not here to razz Vol fans. Just have some honest discouse. Don't attack me or insult me. you should be able to tell I am a fairly honest and upstanding LSU and SEC fan.

Let's look forward to a great game.

Thanks!

Parents were calling and saying they didnt want their children flying into that kind of weather...It' not a case of being melodramatic..It's a case of not wanting to take a chance on putting peoples children in danger..After all these coaches are responsible for other peoples kids...Would you want someone else to make a decision about your childs welfare???

Come on.. be reasonable. If they are over the age of 18, the "child" has the decision to make. 18? Child? did parents call? Sure they did. Is the concern warrented? Of course it is. Should hthe game be played on Saturday night? no. and it isn't. NO I am forced to go on a little road trip and show you the conditions here in Baton Rouge. i will return with pics.

See you soon.

I don't think the wind ever got about mid 30's on campus. And now what would be 30 minutes before game time the weather is fine. I agree I think it was a great move to move the game to monday. But moving it to the end of the season would have been pointless.

Also I know this is a totally different situation but didn't Va Tech play in a Cat 2 last year? I didn't hear people crying about that game... I personally thought it was crazy but thats just my opinion.

regarding road tripping for the conditions in BR whats the point. When the airline you charter doesnt even want to take the chance...I dont think not wanting to play the game is the reason....and 18 or not it's still someones child and speaking as a parent i would'nt want my kid going when even government officials in a general radius says if you dont have to be here then dont come....It is an inconvenience for all concerened, but the right choice was made....

I'm sure you are a grown individual....would you want to put yourself in that position? :banghead:

This discussion (along with the discussion on the Tiger boards) has been and continues to be among the most unbelievable I have ever seen....too many folks with too much time on their hands and not enough knowledge.....leading to comments like 1) TN is afraid 2) TN is desperate to avoid playing us at any cost 3) I could play in this weather 4) the field is fine we should have had the game......

As the details of the situation have truly emerged only the most jaded would think their AD Skip has his head screwed on right.... And reading the new information that he has sent out in memo form should convince most that the he deserves a Craftsman label....a real TOOL!

I have seen a few folks who truly understand the issues and have been able to move on with the reality of the situation....but it has been too few.

I am amazed that supposedly intelligent people could be so blind as to not understand the larger issues....

But then again...they are LSU fans.... I do hope everyone who wants to go to the game can get there...TN does best in a hostile environment under impossible circumstances...wish I knew why...but they just do...

Go Vols.
