My sentiments were not to get on a soapbox, but rather to shed some honest light on the situation and hopefully have those, so blined by "purple" or "orange" passion, take a deep breath and see the situation for what it is. Perhaps you didn't gather my underling meaning in the post. This game is all about money. Money needed at the LSU athletic department. Lousiana is one of only a handful of states that has a law on the books that states no tax dollars can be used for Athletics. All sports start out the physical year with $0 in their budget. Seed money to get the season started off comes from Athletic foundations and booster organizations. The vast majority of that money is tied up in facility inprovments that are underway right now. Football revenue is then sed money for all other women's and men's sports. Budgeting is done way in advance of the football season begining so that other sports that have travel and equipment expences can get underway. Can you imagine the gender based lawsuits over a women's team season getting a late start because of the football team taking priority?
The first home game was postponed to the only midseason open date on schedule. Result: No income. The second home game was played in AZ. The athletic department did have the funds to send the team to AZ, so the Fiesta Bowl picked up the tab. Result: No Income. In an effort to get some revenue flowing in, LSU rightly fought to have the game played on Saturday or Sunday, as to not strain the resources of the University itself. After negotiations with TN, the SEC, and LSU, the commish determined that in the best intrest of the confrence ti should be played on Monday ngiht. TV revenue affect LSU, TN and every other SEC school. Decisions made were in teh best interest of the confrence as a whole. traveling to Knoxville or Memphis would be an additional strain on the confrence. Remember, there is still No money in the atletic budget to travel. That is why the commish did what he did, so that the confrence wouldn't have to pick up the tab for LSU to travel. Combine that with the fact that tis will give a foundation of funds for LSU's athletic department to travel to MS State in a short week, the game really needed to be played in Baton Rouge.
As I mention in an earlier post. I am not here to razz Vol fans. Just have some honest discouse. Don't attack me or insult me. you should be able to tell I am a fairly honest and upstanding LSU and SEC fan.
Let's look forward to a great game.
Thanks!

I understand what you are saying about the money, I'm just having a little difficulty believing it.
The stadium normally has over 92,000 in attendance, I assume at least 80,000 are paid at the full price of $36. This gives money in the bank right now of $2,880,000 and they have already told us that they aren't giving any of it back. This doesn't include any monies collected for season tickets that have been in the bank for the past 60 - 90 days.
'Splain that one to me Lucy. :dunno:
