LSU, Oregon, and Oregon State require vaccine or negative test to attend football games [merged]

A previous thread on this topic was deleted.

Before it happens again... this is a ridiculous surrender of privacy rights and civil liberties. The demands are made on false information and narratives concerning the virus.

As someone who is pro-vaccine (actually, pro-making informed decisions), I absolutely agree with you on the privacy rights and civil liberties point. I (largely) disagree with with your second point although there is enough false information out there that has skewed the narratives on both sides.

There are all kinds of limitations on privacy rights for the greater good of a society. I for one applaud a University doing what elected officials have failed to do. Hope Randy and Donde follow suit. I always said if you want to end this virus make vaccination a requirement to SEC football games. It is our greatest defense. So I agree with you absolutely that unvaccinated people don't have superior rights to me.

If you are vaccinated why do you care?

This doesn't help anything, but I see both sides of the argument. I was opposed at first - the vaccine wasn't FDA approved (Phizer apparently was yesterday). I never got a flu shot just because I figured I could survive it, and didn't want something foreign in my system ( I said as I ate a big mac). I'm not sure I like the "show me your papers" thing. That's ripe for abuse, and those making the rules seem (in some cases) to not be following them. I am vaccinated, but if I wasn't, I'd still go to the games. This isn't a black and white issue, but I think the bottom line is "Do what you think is best". Wear a mask or stay home if you fear getting Covid.
By the way, my unvaccinated former neighbor is fighting for his life in ICU right now. It is worse than the flu in some people. I'm glad I got the shot.

Wow. Last time I checked being sick or even not being sure if your sick or not wasnt against the law.

I think you may have missed the point actually. The point is there are limitations on all sorts of "personal rights" that people think they have. But if you want to keep it to a medical situation that is fine. It is illegal in Tennessee, and every other state, to knowingly have sex with another person while having an STD without telling them before hand. If I have an STD it is a crime to have sex with whoever I want and keep my medical history to myself. I see it the same way. If you are a carrier of COVID, exposed to COVID or desire not to get the vaccine, thus leading to the likelihood of you having it and not knowing, then yes, the government should step in a protect others from your decisions.

Seems to me if you've been vaccinated you shouldn't care if others are not. Geeze, people should have the "FREEDOM" to do what works for them without mandates. I would have NEVER thought people would be so willing to give up their rights.

oddly enough it is legal in California to have AIDS and not disclose it prior to having sex. Yet they are the loudest screamers when it comes to COVID

I think this is where the fundamental disagreement is. I don't see this mandate of LSU or even Donald Trump (finally) encouraging people to get the vaccinated as fear mongering. I see it as a public service. You don't have as much freedoms as you think you do. The government has all kinds of restraints on what you digest, what you can say in public, what and how you can use your body, and who you can love and how. So don't tell me that this is a country of unlimited freedoms, we all have checks and balances.

Being unvaccinated does not equal having COVID.

I will give you this much... If a person knowingly has Covid and goes to a game, they are 100% in the wrong.

So you are telling me you have to have paperwork or covid ID to go to a game but having an ID to vote is suppression. When only 24% of the African American community is vaccinated how is this not a form of segregation and suppression of freedoms. Simple answer…..its segregated. You want Australia rules, move

Hah!you are so arrogant. Look it up, the flu shot misses more than it hits most years. But you do you and keep on with your socialist agenda.

That's right pull the Socialist card from the bottom of the deck. When you can't justify the stance you are making and realize that you are wrong, just call the other person a socialist and pat yourself on the back. It's not you, it's everybody else. Just an FYI - the auto industry, the farming industry, the airlines, the education system, heck the public library and post office.................... all "socialist" ideas

I choose to live free with as little government as possible and will fight for that for all people. You choose to succumb to the man
