‘23 LSU transfer OT Zalance Heard (Tennessee)

No. I think they are more talented across the board. But if Dayne Davis is your best option at tackle, then yes that alone is a huge difference maker. I don’t think he’s capable of playing at this level.

Even if that’s true, who says he’ll be the best option at tackle by the time game one rolls around in the fall?

Most OL who become starters do in their third year. We had no class in 21 basically and 22 and 23 are not ready and have only been in program two years or less. It takes time and we need portal to get to the point where we will have OL ready and developed from the high school ranks. It is what it is and we need some portal dudes and if we don't get them, it is a problem next year and I think the coaches know it and are doing what they can to get a short term fix. Crying about it by them or you won't fix anything.

Yet he has. Testament to someone knowing what they’re doing.

This should be pasted in every new transfer portal thread

People need to get a grip. Georgia started a former walk-on at QB deeper than Year 4 in Kirby's stint at UGA. It didn't seem to bring their program crashing down. There is an amazing amount of group-think on this board that none of our players develop at all once they step on campus. If a freshman or sophomore isn't starting, that means they're a bust and they'll never be able to improve and contribute.
Lol. Their walkon QB was good. That’s the difference.

Georgia started a walk-on a few times at safety his name is Dan Jackson, and no he wasn't good but he was okay is that a better reference for you and this dumb argument. Just relax it is January nobody needs to stoop to your level to explain to you the staff will find help on the OL by Fall practice..

What about last years class and this years. So none recruited can play or it’s because they’re freshmen
For this years class we don’t have any freshman coming in that will be ready to play OT in the SEC from day 1. Usually only 1 or none of those types of talent in the high school ranks per year.

there are not enough quality players on the roster to win the SEC at this point no matter who starts at tackle.
Same thing was said about the team 2 years ago, and they were knocking on the door. So what your saying is complete BS. If you have a great to superior QB, that can make a huge difference in closing the gap In other places. Will Nico be a great to superior QB, no one knows for sure, but it looks promising. But as it has already been pointed out, you can't have Dayne Davis out there.

2 years ago you didn't have Texas and Oklahoma in this league. Also, no divisions now. You need to be 1 or 2 in the league to get to Atlanta. Being 3 and 4 is no certainty to be in a the playoffs as many think... It can happen, but its not a guarantee.

while I agree a great QB can be an equalizer, that is typically a one year happening without a lot of better players in support every year. see Jayden Daniels.

We weren’t on the same level as UGA so don’t think that it is “BS”.
