Mack Brown out at Texas

Doesn't it expire next year? Not that I think he's actually going to be on Texas' short list.

5 year. Expires 2016

On December 20, 2011 the NCAA placed Ohio State on an additional one year's probation and banned it from postseason play in 2012 for numerous major violations under Tressel's watch. It also imposed a five-year show-cause penalty on Tressel, which means any NCAA member that wants to hire him would have to "show cause" for why it shouldn't be sanctioned for hiring him, and could face severe penalties if he commits any further violations during that time. The order stands until December 19, 2016; given past precedent, it will likely have the effect of blackballing Tressel from the coaching ranks until the 2017 season. If Tressel ever coaches again during this period, he will be suspended for the first five games of the regular season, plus any conference championship game or bowl game.

Can those who know the busiest Bammer boards list them here. I need the entertainment! In case you don't know, orangebloods.com is hopping with entertainment.

Once they iron out the details of Mack's role within the University after the expected resignation, I'm certain that the BOR and President will conduct a lengthy, well publicized National search. I'm also certain that they already have candidate(s) in mind and have probably already began contract negotiations with atleast 2 of them.

Regardless of recent re-negotiations with some coaches across the country at their respective schools, I dont believe for one second that the BOR in Austin are hesitant to ask a few of them to consider the position.

Current NFL coaches being mentioned appear to be the brass in Austin attempting to flex their muscle publically for pomp and circumstance.

Names like Jim Tressel, Art Briles, Charlie Strong, James Franklin and yes, Nick Saban (you have to call him atleast) are viable IMO.

Mike Shanahan will be canned soon and then his name will pop up I'd imagine.

I've heard Larry Fedora's name brought up too which I think would infuriate the fan base.

A very dark horse that I keep thinking about, should he still have the passion for the game would be, Bill Cowher.

And just for grins, I'd be remiss if I didnt type the name Jon Gruden. <--This was done for entertainment purposes only fellas.

That aint happenin

If I were Texas, calls in order: Saban, Petrino, Pinkel, Dantonio

Question about Gary Patterson. He was a hot name a couple years ago and denied interest in a number of jobs, but since moving to the Big 12 has been underwhelming. What's his deal?

to be fair, I've been reminded as recently as last night that I was a just a "guest" here.

He got a raise, they built him a new playpen, and he started losing games.

Pat Narduzzi, Mich St. DC, would be high on my list. He won the best assistant coach award (Broyles Award) yesterday.

I don't think you can throw out names like Saban then introduce a DC as HC. He would probably be great though.
