Mack Brown out at Texas

I guess the guy misspelled his own rumored assistant coach. Fickell

Oh...

Did he miss the game winning Miami Dolphins field goal and get a partial sex change operation as well?

Shaggybevo rumor: the assistants he reached out to are Finkel from osu, and chad Morris.

This seems even more unrealistic know.

fickell is on the hot seat at OSU anyway. People are looking for a scapegoat. Plus, he wasn't given much confidence by Urban when he was given the role of DC to share with Everett Withers. I think he's just been hanging around OSU until given another good opportunity elsewhere.

Regarding Smart: yes, I think he'd get the job. And I think most Bama fans would be okay with it. While it's not official, it's been widely accepted that he's been the coach in waiting for a couple of years. He's had opportunities to leave, but he's stayed on (being the highest paid coordinator in the country helps). The only way he's leaving Bama is if some school like UGA comes calling.

As for the rest, we have to hear stuff about Saban leaving every year. Shoot, I think rumors of Saban's departure began as soon as he took the job. While there may be "more smoke" this time, it's not like it's something entirely new. If he stays, and Texas hires someone else, it will simply be some other college or NFL team next year.

Ok that's what I thought on Smart. I'm going to assume that u mean he'd leave for a school like UGA if they were to come calling while still the DC, not if he were the HC...yes?

Now on the second part...I know there is always talk of him leaving but other than the NFL there really isn't a reason to worry much in the past. He's to expensive for majority of schools even if he'd be worth it. Now UTX on the other hand is a legit threat...maybe one of very few actual ones. If browns "resignation" gets put off another season this smoke will just get thicker and then a nuisance. Start to be a negative not something to just brush off as just "happens every yr". Now if y'all would be ok with Smart, and not really go nuts ie Kiffin fiasco then no biggie. So now I'm wondering if u think y'all would really be THAT distraught if he were to leave this year or next??

Isn't Chad Morris from Texas?

Yeah. An aggie at UTX...he'll have to put that decision in the hands of God Almighty Himself. Wonder if A&M will demand he return his class ring on the terms of bringing disgrace to being an aggie :p

Yeah, that's what I meant.

If Saban were to leave for any reason other than retirment, there will be plenty of wailing and herbicidal behavior. Most Bama fans like Smart, but I'm not even going to pretend that anyone would just shrug it off if Saban bolted.

To your hypothetical about Brown: he's gone. There is no way he can or will be retained for another year. That bridge has already been burned, and the ashes have been scattered. Texas will be making a new hire within the next few weeks, whoever that may be.

Thx. Above well noted on how the fans would be, and the confirmation on my assumption.

Yeah I know the chances of brown staying r slim, but at this pt I'm nor here or there on all that. My concern right now is trying to formulate my opinion on what the effects would be once it's official either way.

Thx for ur help.

I know some financial guys in Dallas who are saying Saban is in financial trouble. So thats why he is looking for a big pay day

He was an investor in a couple of bad land deals. But at 5.5 million a year, I don't think "financial trouble" is the term I would use.

Unless this is a joke, go away.

It's a rumor that's been out there ever since this "Saban to Texas" thing got started.

Supposedly, he owes $7 million to various creditors. Bad investments, that type of stuff.

Don't believe it for a second, but it's one of the many rumors floating around.

I don't understand why people invest like their money like that anyway. You're already a multimilionaire with more money than you could ever spend! Why not just bank it and live off the interest??

This isnt a rumors about Saban thread, this is a Mack Brown out of Texas thread.

A guy, knows some guys in Dallas that say he is in financial trouble? This isnt TMZ.

I'm not bashing him at all. I just find it hard to believe. I just saw a financial mag article that put his net worth at 15 mil. That to me, sounds low so maybe his guys story has merit.

A lot of athletes and coaches want to be able to live like they are still playing/coaching when they're out of the game, so they try to grow their money by investing in things like land deals, restaurants, etc. Stuff that could potentially give you a nice flow of money once you're done coaching or playing.

I just got home and while I was driving I was listening to College Sports Nation - Some guy named Jimmy called in said he used to work at South Alabama in the sports info dept - said he still has connections and talked to someone about the contract with Saban. He said that the deal is done - that IF Brown leaves, Saban goes to TX and Kirby Smart is Bama's next coach immediately.

Take it for what it's worth.....
