Mad Men

I liked this last episode.
For Sally's sake, I hope they end the season with Will Smith giving her the flashy-thing from Men In Black. They need to wipe her memory so she can rebuild a new personality.
I hope you were following #madmen on twitter during the episode. It was pretty hilarious once Glen (Wolverine) showed up.

This last week's episode was great.
Before most finales of shows I love, I'm excited, but not Mad Men. I'm kind of anxious about it because I feel like there's no way it ends happy.
I'm disappointed that we won't see a single ad pitch from Don this whole season.
I think the others leave McCann and form a new agency where Peggy is creative director.

Hard to tell how they wrap this up, if they even in fact wrap anything up. Weiner has said he thinks he screwed up on the finale but he may just be playing everyone, or just being pessimistic.

It would be very Mad Men like if it was mostly a "normal" episode that ended very quietly with nothing really major going down. It would tick off many but at the same time, it would stay true to what the show has been.

Don spends 50 minutes trying to kill a fly in his hotel room. Perfect finale.

I would say that Joan, Pete and Betty (well, I guess Don has to find out somehow) have been resolved. Maybe you could argue Peggy and Roger have as well but I would be disappointed to not see them this episode.

Unreal.

The series finale is in 25 minutes and the storm that came through has screwed up the receiver, and the ONLY channel that is affected is AMC. Kind of pissed off right now.

It's playing over and over til 540 AM Eastern Time.

Holy crap, I read an article earlier this week that nailed that ending.

I think it's fitting for this show.

I liked the ending. The DING right as he smiled was a simple, but brilliant touch.
What a great show.

I've never watched a single episode of this show. I may have to now that I know it ends on a positive note and not with the lead character plummeting to his death from the Empire State Building. Nor was it a dream, nor was it purgatory.

Three cheers for Don. He didn't necessarily deserve it, but glad he found peace.

I don't think he found peace. I think he found his next big idea. I imagine home going back to McCann, and continuing to live as he had lived.

What about his moment with that other guy at the retreat?

I think that was genuine. Maybe the character grew from that brief encounter. Idk. It is fun to speculate. But that wry grin during the meditation and the famous coke ad makes me think he went back to his old ways.

I thought the ending was lame. Turns out Don was just trying too hard all along to be a people pleaser?

Com on.

Roger was the best character on that show, the best actor, too. Wish they'd centered on him more.

Trying too hard to be a people pleaser? That's not what I got out of the Leonard scene, if that's what you're referring to.
I got just that Don feels like nobody truly sees or knows him. They see his good work and they take it but he's not close with anyone at all. Never has been, really.
Roger was great, but he was like the third lead. I don't know what else they could have done with him. Don Draper was the main character, so they weren't going ot have Roger eclipse that. I guess they could have given him some of Peggy's screen-time, but I think the show was still outstanding.
I liked that Don made three calls in the last episode all to different women. Mirrors what Chaw said earlier in the season about there being three women in every man's life.
It's Wednesday and I'm still singing that Coke ad in my head. It's the real thing.
