Maggitt To Redshirt?

When has Maggitt ever shown flashes of anything other than mediocrity? He has been overrated since he set foot on campus. I realize he's been hurt a lot. However, when stud freshmen play you expect both flashes of brilliance and incompetence. With Maggitt we only got the latter. I'm not saying he sucks. I'm merely saying that aside form the depth issue, his loss is not that big of a deal.

Disagree. As a freshman he had the speed off the edge to get into the backfield and the size to stuff the run.

Not to mention the fact that he is vocal, a worker and a leader. Even if he were just a mediocre talent, which he's not, his intangibles would cause him and everyone else to play beyond their ability. That is irreplaceable. Some people just don't get that.

Seeing him in drills dude he was huge and still had speed. The way the coaches rave about him and seeing him up close, there is nothing mediocre about this young brotha. Our game is stepped up with him on the field. I think dude from tucky is looking for attention. And he got it.

When Curt is healthy he is very good. He just hasn't been healthy very often.ill take him on the field Even if he is in there only a little bit while easing back into it.

Well said, there is something to be said about a young football player adapting to a new defensive scheme as well as lawyer playing football coach like little kids play role play.

Maggitt has been a playmaker(see NC ST. game from last year) for the Vols and can continue to be as long as he stays healthy. IMO, he really is a great talent and something good that Dooley did while he was here. As long as he stays healthy, he and AJ will anchor the defense along with McCullers.:twocents:

When healthy Curt Maggit is a stud. All SEC type talent. He has great size speed and instincts when getting after the QB. I hope that he can play at 100% and get over this injury. If he can be brings the whole defense up another level

He's going to play. Period.

How the eff did this get no likes?

Smokey em if you got em and we got em.

Maggit is a stud. Like a lot of guys he's played hurt. FTR he's played hurt better than many rivals healthy starters. If that's not beast idk what is.

He is a beast, and I saw a picture of him online earlier getting stiff armed straight to the ground by Croom! What does that tell us about Croom?

Here it is!

It's Doug Matthews - Vanderbilt Grad, Fulmer Inside Guy, Great Defensive Coordinator at UT, Canned by Majors for real reasons unknown....has always been in the loop, but may not be in regarding Maggitt....This is a wait out....He and Staff will do the right thing and what is best for the player's health and future.....Wait and See....This is what coaches get paid to do.......

Matthews was giving his OPINION on what UT SHOULD do IF Maggitt wasn't going to be 100% this season. He was not stating as fact things that he was hearing, only giving his opinion.

Yep you got it....that is what most of these Radio Sports talk disk jockeys do....is give their opinion and fans interpret their opinion as fact....

And that's what they're paid to do - give their opinions.

The disconnect comes when people aren't bright enough to tell the difference between news and opinion. And sports isn't the only area where that happens.

Hopefully, Curt will play and at 100%. If he doesn't play a great deal this season(early), He will continue to be a leader and help coach up the crew. In our out, our team will benefit from him greatly.

He's an average SEC player. He'll be replaced by someone only slightly worse.

It doesn't really matter if you think he's just an average SEC player (which is not true when he's healthy). The fact is he's one of the best players on an already thin defense and he will be missed if he can't play this year.
