I’m talking about this as a whole. Everything going on there. Also you don’t think an investigation is necessary to see if the other coaches players aren’t involved? Maybe the pitcher agreed to sit in exchange for cash from the bet? I mean just to say everyone else is clean is dumbWhat penalty should they face? The players, “program” and administration did nothing. Bohannon’s career is over for all intents and purposes and he’s the only one guilty here.
They’ve already said no players are involved. It’s also been said that a “large bet” on college baseball could be in the neighborhood of $5k. If it’s that “small” then no player is getting rich. It’s also been said it’s a friend/acquaintance of Bohannon’s likely from his days at UK; I highly doubt anyone is involved. The team played their best baseball this weekend with him gone.I’m talking about this as a whole. Everything going on there. What. A. Mess.Well, looks like bama opened a can of worms.
Iowa Gambling Authorities Launch Investigation Against Hawkeyes Baseball After Player Suspensions
I think there will be many more. I had no clue that they couldn’t gamble on any sports their school offers or the pros. Definitely should be a school compliance officer explaining these rules to student athletes, hopefully before they make a wagerIowa and Iowa State have athletes in the mess. I don't think most players realize what they can and can't do when it comes to gambling. I never realized until this broke that they cannot gamble on any sports their school offers including professional sports. I will bet every team has one guy or more that bets on professional sports.
IMO this is about to become a nationwide issue and I’m not sure any athletic department is safe from these investigations.Iowa and Iowa State have athletes in the mess. If I'm understanding this right, a college baseball player isn't allowed to go on DraftKings and cast a bet on, say an NBA game?Iowa and Iowa State have athletes in the mess. A college athlete cannot make a bet on any amateur or professional sport that has a similar sport in college. They can't even be a part of a March Madness pool where the winner gets money. They also cannot bet on any sporting event that is amateur or professional. They have a meeting every year that lays this out so if the student/athlete goes against it they should be removed from the team and penalized. They are given full knowledge on what they can and cannot do. But I'm sure almost every major team at every major school has a player or players who are betting online and do not think they will get caught. I don't know how you would catch them but I'm sure there are ways.
So you are telling me that no investigation is needed? I mean as a college athlete or on staff you can’t even make a bracket for the tourney? That no players at Bama are betting? They’ve already said no players are involved. It’s also been said that a “large bet” on college baseball could be in the neighborhood of $5k.
