Make this make sense

I was reading an article earlier today where Heupel admitted that having Nico on the roster makes it hard to get an experienced quality QB in the portal. Heupel also admitted that lack of qb experience is a concern. My question to Heupel would be why haven't you given either of your backups meaningful playing time? What's especially perplexing to me is how Gaston Moore followed him over from UCF and knows the offense and he hasn't gotten any snaps really. I'm going to be really mad if I don't see Nico or Gaston throwing passes to starting receivers in the bowl.
Hypo affinity for Milton is the only significant mistake he’s made in his time as coach here IMO. We saw Milton play terrible to start heupel’s tenure. I would’ve expected the back up to get some meaningful reps the first couple of games of the year as coaches often times give multiple quarterbacks game reps in a scenario like we had (with a new coach and no returning qb that’s taken any snaps at that school).

A system is a lot for players to digest and coaches typically will play two different kids just to see which one is able to consistently perform under the bright lights. It’s a great example to the team as well. You are essentially saying the players aren’t going to be handed a starting job… That job will have to be earned by performing under the bright lights.

Yeah, we all know that’s not how it was handled. The job was absolutely handed to Milton on a platter. The moment hooker came in and began running the offense. We instantly recognized him to be the better player. How could a coach that’s been a successful as hyper not recognize in practice, what was blatantly obvious. It’s crazy the media and fans haven’t held him more accountable for that erroneous decision.

But unfortunately, Heupel Doubled down on his mistake, rather than fixing it. He had two years to plan for life after hooker, but he’s stuck with Milton. This year was always going to go exactly as it went. The best I hoped, for with Milton at the helm was 8–5. I hope we end up again better than that. But at this point… We have got to move on from Milton and give Nico valuable experience. The team/program will undoubtedly be better moving forward having seen Nico play meaningful snaps in the game. And it’s not just the future that will benefit from Nico playing. I genuinely believe he will play the position at a higher level right now than Milton ever has been capable of. Simply put, I would bet the absolute house that Nico would give us a better chance of success in the bowl game.

It would certainly reinvigorate the players and fan base if they announce Nico will be the starter. Fingers crossed that ends up the case.

If only there were ways for players to develop other than taking meaningless snaps in garbage time against overmatched opponents!

I am surprised that Gaston Moore has never been put on scholarship.

I remember the talk after the spring game in 2021. Nobody was praising Hendon Hooker. Everyone was bitching about why Harrison Bailey wasn’t the QB. Don’t claim any of you know Jack **** about QB play more than Heupel cause you obviously don’t.
I like heupel, and I would hope with the checks he’s collecting your right. But let’s poke some holes in that righteous argument of yours. Remember when we (Heupel) started a guy named Joe over a guy named Hendon? Practice obviously doesn’t always tell the whole story. The gripe being that we didn’t truly get to see enough of Nico this year to know if he should’ve played more or not.

You’ve obviously never played competitive sports. Developing is one thing. Game time experience is another. The speed and the platform can’t be recreated by any practice. Any high level athlete will tell you this. Who is the overmatched opponent?

Point is expecting HS kids to walk in and start their freshman year is crazy. It’s rare that it happens.
Nah, don’t twist it. We didn’t say he should’ve started. He should’ve got more playing time in real life game reps. Especially late in the season after our season was done after losing to FL. You guys trying to compare this to GA or Bama in any fashion is comical. Both of those programs had high level QB play and had no need to get back ups playing time. We didn’t have that argument. We never had a high level QB on the field.

Fans gonna fan. Nevermind nobody gives true freshman QBs meaningful snaps or benches a Senior for the bowl game in the name of gaining experience.

If only the person making the decisions you’re complaining about had the experience playing competitive sports as a high level athlete that you have.

One of the reasons for Joe to get all the work was that our most challenging games were late in the season - Bama, UGA, Mizzou. So giving our starter (who needed all the experience and confidence he could get) most of the game reps made sense.
Are you saying getting our starter game reps with a new Oline and new WRs was important? Get out of here with that nonsense. This all works just like it does on my old NCAA football games.

As i suspected, you cant provide a link to the article with Heupel quoted as saying what was in the original post.
You wanted proof of where the moon is. I gave it to you. Now you want a link to an article that I didn’t post about or bring up. Being friends with you is exhausting.

What is the “that” that you are inviting others to “get some” of???

I don’t have to be a doctor to cut my finger and know I need a band-aid. Kind of like I don’t need to be an SEC coach to know real time game experience is important for development.

And yet, you tried to marginalize my opinion with “obviously you’ve never played competitive sports.” Either that matters or it doesn’t. It can’t matter for me, but not for you. That’s called hypocrisy and it’s a bad look.

Of course, so is beginning a purported argument with an ad hominem.

If you think playing Nico against Austin Peay’s and whoever else’s scrubs would have advanced his development more, then fine. Someone who has forgotten more about QB development than you’ll ever know obviously thought it best to play him the amount of time he played him.

Do you people not think he might have concerned about durability? 6' 6" and 200 lbs is a recipe for serious bodily harm in the SEC. Don't need another damaged QB to disappoint the masses.
That’s light for a 6’6” guy but Stetson Bennett (5’11”) was only 190 and there have been plenty of other SEC QB’s that were less than 200 pounds.
