Malaysia Boeing 777

The Russian military has been downing Ukrainian combat aircraft for the terrorists for awhile now. The most plausible scenario is that they mistake the 777 for a Ukrainian Air Force cargo plane and brought it down.

An A380 flew over that area earlier today as well.

That's debatable but either way shouldn't the regular military be able to distinguish a 777 on a normal flight path from a Ukrainian plane?

I can easily imagine the mercenary militia making this mistake, but the Russian military?

Training or the lack of.

Plus the lack of sophisticated radar systems as well. The Buk was designed in the early 1970s...

Doesn't have to be complicated to hit a large target plodding along at 500 knots in a straight line.

The Russian militia are offering a 3 day cease fire to allow recovery of the crash site.

The Ukraine SBU released this supposed convo between separatists talking about the downing the jet.

Not working.

I'll assume it's the proof they claimed they had to show it was Russia that fired the missile?

Transcript of the recording;

Igor Bezler: We have just shot down a plane. Group Minera. It fell down beyond Yenakievo (Donetsk Oblast).

Vasili Geranin: Pilots. Where are the pilots?

IB: Gone to search for and photograph the plane. Its smoking.

VG: How many minutes ago?

IB: About 30 minutes ago.

SBU comment: After examining the site of the plane the terrorists come to the conclusion that they have shot down a civilian plane. The next part of the conversation took place about 40 minutes later.

“Major”: These are Chernukhin folks who shot down the plane. From the Chernukhin check point. Those cossacks who are based in Chernukhino.

“Grek”: Yes, Major.

"Major": The plane fell apart in the air. In the area of Petropavlovskaya mine. The first “200” (code word for dead person). We have found the first “200”. A Civilian.

“Greek”: Well, what do you have there?

“Major”: In short, it was 100 percent a passenger (civilian) aircraft.

“Greek”: Are many people there?

“Major”: Holy sh__t! The debris fell right into the yards (of homes).

“Greek”: What kind of aircraft?

“Major”: I haven’t ascertained this. I haven’t been to the main sight. I am only surveying the scene where the first bodies fell. There are the remains of internal brackets, seats and bodies.

“Greek”: Is there anything left of the weapon?

“Major”: Absolutely nothing. Civilian items, medicinal stuff, towels, toilet paper.

“Greek”: Are there documents?

“Major”: Yes, of one Indonesian student. From a university in Thompson.

What terrible news. Really hoping this isn't the event that results in WWIII

For the last time, WWIII isn't happening because of a 777 being shot down in Eastern Europe. The Soviets shot down a Korean Airlines flight in the '80s with a US Congressman on-board and we didn't go to war than we sure as hell are not doing it now.

Stronger sanctions from US and now the EU as well. Putin shakes his fist. Life goes on, more people die. That's about it.

I imagine sanctions will ramp up from, "No, seriously cut that crap out.", to, "Enjoy being Iran."

Will be interesting to see if the West will consider shipping weapons to Ukrainian forces. Whatever happens Kiev now has the world's back to take the gloves off against the terrorists.

Just heard that. Let's translate, shall we?

Putin: "Ukraine, this is all your fault! If you hadn't been so egregiously trying to reclaim land that is legally yours from people who aren't even Ukrainians, none of this would have happened! Damn you, fascists! Damn you to hell!"
