Malik Jackson to transfer to UT

Now we've got enough DE's so that they can play 'like their hair's on fire' like Dooley said of Wilcox's Defense at Boise...

I appreciate the polite flattery, but Tennessee isn't a top tier SEC program on the field just yet. We can get back there, though.

We are a top teir program like it or not! Just like ND is. I will say that we are a top teir program that is suffering through some rough years, but dont under appreciate the fact that we are THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE!

Yes but who would play LB?

UT has an abundance of LB's for the 3-4... Walker and Bohannon have already lined up at LB this spring when they went to the 3-4...it also allows A.Johnson to play ILB (given that Reveiz beats him out in the 4-3)...

just considering the starting lineups (not depth)...UT is better suited for the 3-4 this year...imo...

reason being...Walls is more of a 3-4 DE than a 4-3 DT...

Walker is more of a 3-4 LB than a 4-3 DE...

but depth comes into play...which is why we won't run the 3-4 all of the time...

or we just found our other legit DE in the 3-4... Walls, Hughes, Jackson would be a stellar lineup for when we go to the 3-4 under Wilcox...

Not trying to be rude, but why is there so much talk about moving to a 3-4. I thought BSU's base defense under Wilcox was a 40, and frequently a 4-2, with an extra defensive back in non-nickel type situations. I also thought that Dooley said we would be multiple, but the base defense would be a 40 when he hired Wilcox.

Excellent! Hopefully we can get his brother to come as well. I feel complete now, all I wanted was at least one USC transfer but if he wants to bring a few of his teammates than I'll welcome them with open arms!

im not talking base defense...a package defense that UT has already implemented this spring...UT will run some 3-4 this year...

Thanks, not trying to be controversial just intrigued

Looks like Malik's brother Marquis recently signed with Texas Southern

maybe had academic issues, but at least he is not going to USC

Not on the field the last couple of years, but UT is still in the upper tier. UT has great tradition, facilities (100K+ seat stadium), fan support etc. SEC-East upper tier = UF, UT, UGA. SEC-West top tier = UA, AU, LSU. Like UT, AU dropped off on the field, but looks to be rebounding. UT will rebound too. The Kiffin 1-n-done thingy may make it take UT a year or two longer than AU, but UT will be fine -- much better off in the long run with Dooley than Kiffin, IMO.

If John Brown qualifies we could def play the 3-4. Hughes and Brown can rotate

Walls is a perfect DE and Jackson and Martin fit that role to. Big and rangy. Walker off the edge and Johnson and Reveiz inside with either Thompson or King on the outside. It gives us a lot of flexibility. (Something we had none of on our front 7 last year)

Good luck with that argument around here...

This just in: Kiffin sending messages to Lance Thompson and Jim Chaney saying this is unethical.
