If Malzhan takes the Vandy job, I will have infinitely more respect for him than for Muschump. At least he has the balls to accept the challenge.. even more so had CWM even taken the UT job. Muschump is gutless. I think even a good HS coach could do well at FU.

Taking a rebuilding job in the toughest conference in the nation at a school with which you have no connection when you have one of the top 3 jobs in the nation waiting on you doesn't take guts; it takes stupidity.

I see it even worse than that. Newton was basically a one man show on offense. Tebow did have a few speedy players around him to help him out. Auburn's offense without Gus and Cam next year is going to be terrible.

How the hell can you knock Muschamp for staying put at Texas or taking the Florida job? He'd have been stupid to leave Texas for Tennessee.

Further, it's not as if Malzahn's passing up better opportunities in order to do the ballsy thing and challenge himself at Vandy. It's either take the Vandy job, or hang around for the 7-5 collapse at Auburn next year.

If he took they Vandy job.......would /could Vandy turn into a Stanford/Northwestern?

I do not think he will accept the position...but if he does.......it would be be biggest HIRE in Vandy history!

for 3 million.....take it! His hype will never be bigger! Heismon winner AND playing for a NC! Take the money and RUN!!!!!

If he could make Vandy a 5-6 win team each year...........he could write his own ticket to any University in 3-4 yrs! If not...He can retire to anywhere in the world!

Only sad thing about him taking the job...Dooley and Joker Phillips will now be the least talented/hyped coaches in the SEC.

Probably tonight or tomorrow, I think they want him to sign the contract before announcing. Reportedly he has verbally agreed but has to come to town to sign it, presser, etc. Probably last second details too.

He wouldn't be named head coach in waiting, remember the rule change earlier this year (pretty much follow the same recruiting rules as a coach, 1 visit etc). The HCIW is pretty much a thing of the past officially anyway.

My guess is the NCAA will be in there after the season with the whole SCam saga and he will be glad to be out of AU.

No way they could even approach that type of money to keep him at auburn. You would have to raise the other assistants too.
