Even to be HC at lowly Vandy, you gotta say that's pretty good for a guy who was running the spread offense in a Springdale, Arkansas high school not too long ago. Maybe he wants out of Auburn before sanctions hit. Maybe he just wants to be a HC, prove he can build a program, etc. IMO, it's a great opportunity for both sides. It's a PR coup for Vandy, hiring a "hot" coordinator for HC. That's much better than hiring some retread that you can argue with relative certainty will never succeed. For Malzahn, if he can make Vandy competetive/relative, he could do so much more somewhere else. Would open a lot more doors for him down the road.
