Man, anyone see the video of the Police/Ryan Moats incident?

i've gotten pulled over many a time only to get lectured by the cop for 10 minutes saying things of the variety "do you think you are better than everyone else?" and i'm as waspy as wasp comes. some cops are just douchebags and got into the business to help their frail ego with powertrips. some cops also like to pull over white boys in fancy cars.

Fair enough, I have had the same issues, however, I am confident that if we had the same situation as Moates, things would have been very different.

I feel bad for the guy. I can sympathize with him. I've had more bad experiences with cops than good ones. And all of those times I didn't do anything to be treated like how they treated me. But that's neither here nor there. This cop will get the correct punishment hopefully and we can move past this. Moats has already accepted his apology.

you could easily be right. who knows though.

Exactly, who knows?
But to ASSUME that the situation was handled differently because of race is dangerous thinking.

I can only imagine that cops must go through a lot of equality training to make sure they treat all situations the same (in terms of ethnicity or race).

Supposedly this cop was fresh out of school. While it is obvious to all of us that he handled the situation poorly,

I for one think cops have a very difficult job. Judgement is key and I would argue that good judgement comes with experience, which this guy apparently didn't have

My white friend got the car he was driving impounded because evidently the car had "improper tags" or "expired state inspection" or something. Apparently my friend berated the cop because he was only in town for 2 weeks in between year long deployments to Iraq and the cop felt small and decided to look big. I know for a fact that towing the car was the absolute extreme they could have taken, and is only used if they felt the car was hazardous to drive. Is a 2005 Accord really a hazard?

Was this because of race? No. This was because the cop wanted to feel like the biggest bad-a on the road and wanted to make sure my friend "got the message". Just because one side is white and the other side is black doesn't make this about race, despite was Sharpton and Jackson want us to think.

Cop Who Kept NFL Player From Dying Kin Speaks Out (Video on right)

Dallas Officer Accused Of Excessive Force Talks To CBS 11 News - cbs11tv.com

I don't agree with how he handled this situation but he doesn't deserve death threats and everything else. He screwed up, had a bad day and now he can learn from it and do a better job in the future. I hope the guy doesn't lose his job. It may hurt his credibility in the future because everyone he pulls over now will accuse him of doing something wrong unless he has the audio and video to back him up.

No offense, but being a police officer dont you think, you have a some personal bias on this?

Abraham Lincoln, once said, if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

You believe Police Officers work a safe job.

:hi:

I said it was the 8th most dangerous job, and cited the source, where you thought it was the most dangerous job but couldn't provide any statistical evidence to support that. No offense but dont you think you might be biased because you are a police officer?

The cop has quit his job. I think the guy was sincerely sorry over the incident. I hope he lands on his feet. He has 2 kids and unlike Moats doesn't earn a 7 figure salary. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I think this poor guy got the worst of this situation. Moats's wife got to see her mom and THAT is the important thing.

Moats probably makes only 6 figures being a backup HB of his caliber in the NFL. That's still good money, but not 7 figures. :neener2:

I do?

Actually it is because my family and I live the job and you don't.

Continue to hate law enforcement cause some lone officer or officers made you angry one day and you think we are all that way.

Taxi drivers have a higher mortality rate than police officers.

So where is the stat for the drunk following your wife and kid home and threatening them?

Honestly, you guys actually think that stats actually measure what a law enforcement officer goes through?

:dunno:

Might be best to let this thread go....just like any othe profession...95% of the people do average or better....this guy was a fool and deserves what happened to him..no way he should serve, should not even be working secruity at the mall or local high school. Feel sorry for his kids if you want, but not him...
