Seriously? You expected us to ball out in a glorified scrimmage? This was a football practice for them. We were down several starters and calling the same plays over and over just to get some guys some reps in front of a crowd.
Talk about people overreacting. I asked a question and made a comment but I forgot this is volnation and that isn't allowed.Imagine being so out of touch that you are complaining that the offense didn’t put up 50 points and 500 yards in a spring game. Jesus. Is this what it’s come to? People overreacting to a glorified scrimmage where about 95% of the starters on offense were not playing? Good grief.
Our D is much improved. Plus you have to play vanilla in a Spring game. We will be fine.
Agreed!! That was my biggest issue with this format, rhythm!!! There’s something to be said for being able to settle into a game. I will say, the TD drive Milton had, I felt like K. Webb looked like he will be ready when his number is called, I thought C. Nimrod showed some promise, as did Leacock. It wasn't going to be in sync without Squirrel, Keyton,McCoy and Thornton all sitting out. Not to mention you get no rhythm by playing every 3rd or every other series. Our offense will be fine when the lights come on and everyone is playing .
And I bet our coaches didn't care. They also called the most standard and vanilla play calls with tons of starters not even playing. Do you think he wants to put our highlight type plays on film for anyone to see? No chance. Same with UGa, Kirby didn't show anything, and didn't call exotic blitzes or defenses either to break in their two new quarterbacks. These coaches don't care at all what their spring scrimmages look like. Calm down.I don't think freaking out is the right word. Basically I saw Georgia put up 50 points against the best defense in college. Do I think thart was real or meant anything? Not at all. My point is 60000 people showed up to see the best offense in college and it wasn't as much eye candy as I expected.
Finally have talent at QB? No offense to the guy, but Hooker was a better QB than Milton and Nico is still very young. I think we take a step back at the QB spot this year. We have better depth though. The biggest and most important takeaway from the "game" is that we finally have some talent at the backup positions. That's huge. 3 good QBs, a RB star in the making, some young receivers making catches with all the starters out...
He was a stand out QB. All three of them had moments where they really stood out. Milton's pass to Webb was as nice as Nico's, and Joe led us on a TD drive. He only attempted 13 passes, and completed 9 of them. Wasn't the whole worry about him was whether he could dial his arm back and not miss open WRs? Again, the guy was 9/13 and would've broken a couple of those tackles where he had an open lane to scramble but was called down because someone touched him.Me too. He's stuck around, pulled for Hooker and the team. I hope he has huge success. I'm going to pull for him but I thought he had the least success of the 3 and I thought he would be the standout qb.

Playing against the 3rd string defense when the defense doesn’t have depth of offense. Yes the 3rd string offense killed the 3rd string defense. So the third string qb should look better with 3rd string recievers since they are both 3rd string?

Did every recruiting service and coaches miss something with Harrison Bailey? He is at Louisville now and I think 3rd or 4th on the depth chart. He showed some promise when he was here. Did he just not work hard or did he lose his will when he got beat out? I have often wondered. Go Vols! You remember what your O&W Game breakdown was after Heupel’s first? When Harrison Bailey shined with Jack Jancek smoking fools? Hooker throwing pick sixes? Post that if you can find it.
It’s a CONTROLLED SCRIMMAGE.
I don’t think it’s ever been alleged that his work habits or basic skills aren’t up to par. I think if you did a tale of the tape, he would’ve matched up to Josh Heupel as a player. But the situations and surrounding talent were markedly different and Heupel being a coach’s son and having to persevere through playing at Weber State, getting hurt and transferring to Snow JC and then getting accidentally discovered by Mike Leach built up his mental edge. I think this shows that his high school achievements inflated his expectations and he needs more time to be merely good. If it’s there, Brohm has got it out of way worse.Did every recruiting service and coaches miss something with Harrison Bailey? He is at Louisville now and I think 3rd or 4th on the depth chart.
