Man the SEC Sucks

Florida got stomped by Oregon State and now Missouri is getting thumped by Wake Forest.

I am seriously worried about Tennessee's chances against Clemson. I would love for Tennessee to finish in top 10 but they really need to win bowl game. Worried that this will be a tough ask.

SEC always lays eggs in these bowl games, partially because so many players opt out.

The team that plays in a bowl game can be very different from earlier in the season. It's hard to draw meaningful conclusions from any outcome without a thorough understanding of all the inputs, which very few people have. That's why consensus opinion is often wrong.

Oregon State was Top15 team playing a week 6-6 Florida team with 20 opt outs and portal guys gone.

The SEC is 61 - 40 in bowl games over the last decade. I would disagree that the “SEC always lays eggs in these bowl games…”

It kind of is a big deal with final polls. Tennessee hasn't finished in AP top 10 since 2001.

Yup, you need that top 10 finish for any number of reasons. Don't forget you have "late" signing day in February still right?

Add that the program needs a T10 finish after the last decade plus of dysfunction. We thought we were headed for the playoffs before we got kicked in the cajones in more ways than one in Columbia. To finish outside the T10 now would be horrendous and allow coaches to go into recruits homes for 8 months saying "same old Tennessee". Nope, we need a win here.

Obviously it’d be fun to beat Clemson but it’ll be tough. This is mostly a chance for next years team to get some reps against quality competition.

Oregon State and Wake were the better teams so that doesn’t equal the SEC sucking.

Meaningless, I disagree! The bowl game has many implications. The 2nd signing day is coming, could help sway a few recruits. Final game for some players, everyone wants a win. Milton playing well has a enormous impact on his confidence heading into next year. Clemson has been a thorn in our side, like to see a win.

Two bowl matchups I really do not understand were 6-6 Florida vs 9-3 Oregon State, and the upcoming 9-3 FSU vs 6-6 Oklahoma.

Those are going to be blowout games (Florida always was). It seems like Florida vs Oklahoma and Oregon State vs FSU would have made so much more sense.
Each bowl has conference tie-ins. The Las Vegas Bowl is obligated to take an SEC and P12 team.

Usually, 90% pf what I worry about never happens...so 'worry on'......

I want Tennessee to win. And Mississippi State for Mike Leach. Hope the rest get beat!
And if the SEC goes 2-6 or whatever, then you’ll be complaining next year about B10. Big8,ACC teams being ranked too high in preseason and TN not getting respect for winning conference games as the year progresses.

Lmao every year you post this garbage when 2-3 SEC teams lose meaningless bowls then the conference always ends up with the most wins every bowl season. Give it up

The bowl games aren’t meaningless but their importance has dropped significantly since the number of bowl games has gone from 9 games a few years ago to about 45. Add in the playoffs, opt outs, transfers, coaches and assistants leaving before the bowl games. And soon we will have a 12 team playoff. The bowl games use to be a reward for being at or very near the top of your conference or the very best in the nation but now it is basically a participation trophy for being mediocre or better.

Think about it. With no playoffs, what bowl game would we be going to??? The playoff teams would be going to the NY6 bowl games and 2nd tier teams like us might not be going anywhere if we were under the same criteria that only had 9 bowl games.

IMO, the playoffs starts when the regular season starts. Go undefeated and you will be in the final 4. Loss one and you have decent chance of being in final 4. Loss 2 and your chances of being in final 4 is very slim but at least you get to be in a bowls game like 89 other schools.

I’m looking at this game kind of as a scrimmage. We’ll get to see what the kids who will be playing next fall can do. Win or lose I’m just going to enjoy it.

What world were you living in that there were only 9 Bowl games anytime in the last two decades?

Just spitballing but the SEC has the most NFL talent in the league which would lead me to postulate that the SEC will most likely have the most talented opt outs of bowl games, coupled with the fact that other conference teams view beating a SEC team as winning their Super Bowl. I would expect going forward in the new college landscape that the SEC will probably drop off in wins in mid and lower tier bowls.
