Not true. People are still to this day talking about Dabos orange bowl performance
Florida was 6-6. They had their starting QB opt out, had backup arrested for kiddy porn, and had a mass number to enter the portal and opt out. Florida was also playing against a top 15 team.Florida got stomped by Oregon State and now Missouri is getting thumped by Wake Forest.
I am seriously worried about Tennessee's chances against Clemson. I would love for Tennessee to finish in top 10 but they really need to win bowl game. Worried that this will be a tough ask.
SEC always lays eggs in these bowl games, partially because so many players opt out.
What does Florida and Missouri losing have to do with Tennessee's game?Florida got stomped by Oregon State and now Missouri is getting thumped by Wake Forest.

It’s an interesting decision for the players. I agree, obviously, with the right for them to choose but I definitely disagree with them sitting out unless they’re banged up. If they’d play during the regular season they should play the bowl. Yes there’s a risk but there’s always a risk and I highly doubt these guys are playing scared. If so, maybe they’re in the wrong sport. To me, they’re letting their teammates down by not playing. I know a lot of people disagree and that’s ok.Yes, 100% not true. I'm still pissed @ 2004.
The only reason the "meaningless" mantra has arisen is for those who support players quitting on their teams during the season. There is absolutely nothing meaningless when our team puts on the Orange. Everyone watches, more fans travel than in other games, teams are judged for it, and the final poll rankings are determined by Bowl performances.
But underdogs have a much better winning record in bowl games. Or so I've read.Florida was 6-6. They had their starting QB opt out, had backup arrested for kiddy porn, and had a mass number to enter the portal and opt out. Florida was also playing against a top 15 team.
Missouri- They are not a good team and now their current head coach hasn’t had a winning season since arriving to Missouri. We beat this same Missouri team by 42.
Now let’s take a look at what teams are left from the SEC. Per ESPN!
UT vs Clemson- + 5.5
Bama vs Kansas St- -6.5
Ark vs Kansas- -3.0
Ole Miss vs Texas Tech- -3.5
USC vs Notre Damn- -2.0
UK vs Iowa- +2.5
UGA vs Ohio State- -6.5
Miss State vs Illinois- even (toss up)
LSU vs Purdue- -14.5
UGA is the clear favorite to win Natty.
As you see the SEC is favored in 7 of the next 9 matchups. I think the SEC wins at least 7 of the next 9 along with UGA winning the national title. I don’t think the SEC is down, as much as it is who’s playing the 1st 2 games to start Bowl season for the SEC. Florida was never favored against Oregon State and Missouri hasn’t been good under drink.
There are a few posters on here that seem to overreact to just about anything. Personally I pay little attention to bowl results anymore because of opt outs and not knowing which team really cares about being there. Florida obviously did not. And Wake is just a better team than Missouri. I was impressed with Hartman. Would take him in Knoxville in a heartbeat if he is looking to transfer.I don’t think I’d make a judgment about the conference as a whole based on the performance of the 2 worst bowl-eligible SEC teams.
