I think it means something to a program like Clemson that is still using the 'family' thing as a key element of their recruiting. On the other side, this is Vols' chance to land a haymaker on Dabo and start taking back control of the top of the board for Appalachian high school kids. Yeah. Orange Bowl means a lot in terms of the future for both programs.I wouldn't put too much stock in bowl game peformances. If you're not in the CFP then the games are basically exhibitions. There hasn't been any solid trend on how a bowl performance translates to the next year's season.
Remember Texas won the Sugar Bowl about 4 years ago and declared they were "back"? Yeah.....
And in 2008 Utah whipped Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and Alabama won the NC the next season.
I like bowl games, but she was right. A bunch of geriatrics in Iowa and New Hampshire shouldn’t pick a candidate.I understand your opinion about bowl games being exhibitions, but I really hate that people keep saying it that way. It reminds me of when Hillary Clinton made reference to primary elections by saying there are no rules, merely traditions. These reflect on our program historically, and many people like myself enjoy the meaning of these games.
First of all, if you didn't already know that, then you weren't paying attention during the regular season. Secondly, that isn't a problem. It's a good thing. These are teams that we're recruiting against. The problem is that there isn't many good SEC teams. Just 3 so far (Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee). The rest of the teams have looked like trash. Jury is still out with LSUwho.
